Question about Toys

Open Question

I have the Bright Start Paris 4-in-1 crib and the mattress spring does not take the standard size mattress that it calls for: not all four corners will fall in and be held in place without one popping out. I contacted BSF Baby and they issues a refund without any remedy. Where would I purchase a compatible mattress spring and is that a safe solution?

SOURCE: I have a Bright Future

A:You remove the dropside by removing the bumpers and lowering. Then you loosen the screws on th wooden bar under the mattress base without taking apart . If necessary loosen the screws on the frame, but should only be necessary if the mattress base was put in with the straight hooks facing you. In any case you should not need to completely take apart, but still a pain!

I have the jenny lind crib. had borrowed it out and was returned without the spring. is there a way I can just get the spring?

Yes. Most hardware stores have a set of bright yellow boxes that are
specialty screws, bolts etc. Ask them if they have the crib replacement parts
one. If not, head to a Lowes. I think they have ones that will do. The springs just keept
the dropside from slamming down.
Now if by "Spring" you mean the mattress support, you have a lost cause.
Each crib has a specific mattress support and unless you find one at a DAV or
salvation army thrift store, I'm afraid there is no other inexpensive answer.
If Evenflo has them, they will cost dearly. Feel free to call Evenflo at:

Just notice that the matress doesn't set in well... does the crib matress have different sizes maybe??????????????????

Older mattresses are smaller. Make sure you are using the mattress that is listed
on the crib instruction sheet. There is a new standard and all mattresses are made to comply.

Where can I get the bed rails that hold the mattress and box spring for the full size conversion?

Try checking out where you bought the crib set. It should all be a part of your package. If not, call the customer service of Simplicity and find out where you can buy the parts that you need.

When you turn your crib into a full size bed, do you use a mattress set (with the box spring) or just the mattress?

Just the mattress should be fine since it already has a "bed frame". But since a lot of people have trouble converting cribs into day beds or full-size beds, you are probably better off getting a box spring for that. Also, find out if you have the parts that you need. There have been a lot of recalled Simplicity cribs and the parts for those recalled items are no longer available.

How do I attached mattress spring to crib base

804a227.jpg
The above picture is how our Jardine Enterprises crib attaches the mattress support to the frame. I am thinking you need the bolts to make your crib work. And that might be a chore unless you are very handy with hardware. Also, being a new parent ourselves, I would recommend against anything but the safest crib for your child. Call the original owner--see if they can find the bolts/hardware, if not get a complete unit if you can afford it, it may cost more in the short run, but may save a serious injury or worse. Also, if you go the used route see if it has been recalled, you can start here:

I am not familiar with this crib, but I have been through many cribs and they all (so far) are adjustable to lower the mattress. You can figure it out by removing the mattress and matress board and inspecting the way the board is connected to the frame. Often there is a bar or rung that sits in a clip or groove at each corner of the crib just below the matress board. You may have to crawl underneath and look up at it. Usually you will be able to lower the platform without using tools, but be sure to take the weight off the platform by removing the mattress and board. Good luck.
