Thank you for providing this info, it is actually quite important to assuring we have the right model since Bosch has gone through alot of changes in the past 10-15 years...as far as controls, features etc.
I think the logical place to start is to perform a diagnostic to determine if any components themselves are at fault, then move forward based on the results. Based on the issue you posted the cause can be several things so it's best to start here.
We can do this in a couple of ways, I will first post the procedure here, then if you'd like I can send you the service manual via email if you want to post your email address, it's your call.
To enter a diagnostic is as follows...( this includes your model SHX55M despite it not being listed, same as SHX33A&43E )
Once diagnostic is completed ( typically slightly greater than 20mins at water inlet temp. of 120F...since it must reach 150F for test and Bosch heat at rate of 2F per minute ) you'll either be presented with an error code, or not. This is what to look for...
For models with no display...
Let me know what you find from this and we can move forward from here, knowing what to look for specifically.

That doesn't seem to be working so I'm going to try something different, but follow my initial post for reference.
　
**To enter SHV46C, SL84A, SHX33A/43E/ 46A-B test programs, hold down buttons above (2nd & 3rd from left of three test program buttons), then turn dishwasher on by pushing on/offbutton.
When in test program, 2ndbutton light (Regular Wash) will be lit and 3rdbutton light wil flash.
Push 2ndbutton (Regular Wash) to scroll until test program is chosen, when 3rdbutton light is lit push 3rdbutton to start test program.
Allow program to finish to sefault codes. Push 2ndbutton (Regular Wash) to skip certain steps. Turn dishwasher off to exit test program.**
Once complete the unit will display these type of errors if any are found...
0 - No faults
2 - Heating system fault (heater, Hi-Limit, flow switch, NTC, control heater relay)
4 - Water filling fault
8 - NTC (temperature sensor) fault
16- Water switch fault
**TIP: Fault codes add up for multiple faults (e.g. heating + water filling fault = 2 + 4 = 6)

Hello steph..... Pour 2 cups of vinegar into the empty dishwasher and then run your hottest and longest cycle [pot scrubber if u have it]. Also, always run the hot water into the kitchen sink until it is as hot as it gets before starting the dishwasher. The vinegar will thoroughly cleanse the machine. Repeat this cleaning on an as needed basis.
Also, reduce the amount of soap you are using by about 1/3rd. Joe

Spray nozzles are fine and the dishes are hot at end of cycle so it doesn't seem like those are the source of the issue. Anybody familiar with this Bosch model?
