Not booting from cd/dvs drive, hard drive.

go into the BIOS: depending on your computer has soon as you press the power button press either del, f1 or f2 it normally tells you at the bottom of the screen. once in the BIOS change the boot settings, at the moment it's probable set to boot from the harddrive first. so you have to change it to boot from the cd/dve first

Ram errors, OS install errors, BSOD

These can all be cause my corrupt ram to tell if your ram is corrupt download

memtest from memtest86.com you want the bootable cd image file

burn this file onto a cd and then boot your computer from cd either setting
cd drive as first boot device in BIOS or hitting f12 as computer boots and in the quick boot menu selecting the cd drive

when the memtest program boots up start the memory test

if the test fails the corresponding ram module will need to be replaced

hopefully this helps
regards
djbr1ck
Got a HP DV9700 laptop..running vista 32 bit vista home premium.. my pioneer DVE-k17B is not being recognized by the operating system..

Hi Mark,

    • Download and install CCleaner (free) from Piriform

    • Run the cleaner to remove old un-needed temp files

    • Select the StartUp tab and look for any programs that you know you installed but no longer use or need, and disable them. Caution, do not disable any system files unless you absolutely know what they do and that you do not need them.

    • Run the Registry cleaner, when asked if you want to backup the registry, select YES, and save to a file you will remember just in case. I have used this program hundreds of time on many different system and it has never caused a problem, but you want to be safe, backup the Registry.

    • If asked about a particular file that it wants to clean, select "yes to all"

    • Reboot

Windows should reinstall the drive when the computer boots back up.

If you take all of the above steps and the system still does not see the drive, chances are the drive needs to be replace.

When i try and play my cd games on my computer, it doesn't do anything, so basically it doesn't read the disc not only this it wont even come up with anything on my computer help me !!

Check the Game CD/DVD requirements. If your game CD is newer than your PC, your PC may not be fast enough or you may not have enough memory - RAM - to satisfy the newer RAM hungry games.

OR one of your RAM modules may have failed. Check System memory summary. If the summary says, ie, 128MB RAM, but you have 2 128MB RAM modules installed, 1 RAM module has failed.

OR your CD Drive may have dirty optics. Insert a CD cleaner disk, run it for several cycles to clean off the optics with the brushes on the data side of the cleaner CD.

Problem when downloading file says installer integrity check has failed. common causes include incomplete download and damaged media. cannot install files.

If you're reading the file from a CD-ROM, then either:
* the CD-ROM drive is reading incorrectly,
* the CD-ROM is scratched, and thus cannot be read 100% correctly,
* bad RAM in your computer, that "corrupts" the data being read from the disk into the RAM.

Replace the CD-ROM.
Replace the CD disk.
Download "MEMTEST86+", and run it, to test the RAM; replace, if necessary.

The CD/DVD rom should be plug 'n' play so no need for a install cd, just plug it in your pc and the pc should automatically recognize it.

Can't copy files from Sony ICD-SX57 Recorder to PC using Digital Voice Editor

I have the same issue with this recorder and Vista. According to Sony, the new version should be available for download "sometime this month" so I'm holding my breath. There is a way to get your files onto your computer, but it is pretty annoying when you have a bunch. But it works, so here it is. Select the specific recording that you want to save, then click the "email" button. If you use Outlook like me, an email window will open up and your selected file will be attached. YOu can then save it from the outlook email window without even actually sending it. Once it is saved on your computer, the DVE commands that allow you to convert the file do work, so have a ball! This sure does suck, no? Mark
