Question about Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000 Webcam

Open Question

I use Fraps as a game Recording Software and I do Commentary using RecordPad. When I set fraps to record the Footage and the sound I have it on Stereo Mix (Creative SB Live! Series). But when I do that I can't get my Voice over recordPad, It only has the game music. When I switch the sound Capture setting to Use Windows Input Fraps records my Voice and not the sound from the game. Can anyone tell me how to fix it?

Does any one know what should I do if the fraps output video size is too big! I record a 10 minutes gameplay video but the size generated is near 10GB. In this article"http://www.videoconverterfactory.com/tip..." it mentions that i must decrease the resolution from 1080p to 720p or even lower. I do not really want to do that. Is there any alternative ways or other screen capture software that saves more space?

SOURCE: Error code 0x000001fe

According to Logitech,
"If you receive "Error code = 0x000001fe" when trying to record a video, please re-run the Audio Tuning Wizard and select an available audio recording device."

Sometimes reinstalling the WindowsMedia software or upgrading to WindowsMedia 11 also resolves this issue...its got something to do with codecs. You can download the full codec package HERE. Simply double-click the setup.exe file and follow the on screen instructions.

Should this fail as well, please download the latest version of QuickCam Software - v11.5.
Once done, please do a clean boot/install as explained in my Tips and Tricks.

Hope that helps!

If your issue is not resolved, please do not assign a rating just yet. Please post back as to what steps you took, results, etc, and I will try to assist you further as best I can. I am here at your service.

P.S. -You can rate this solution with one of four votes (remember that at times a bit of to and fro dialogue may be necessary to resolve an issue).

SOURCE: Audio on Webcam is distorted - seems to be recording at a slower speed and palying back at normal spped

as a workaround you can use the headset, you just need to configure your messenger again to use the sound from the mic input instead from the webcam.

SOURCE: My quickcam, quick capture feature

Normal 0 Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/ ) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
  4. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and her to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://www.soft32.com/download_30.html ) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

C. Windows Live Messenger:

  1. After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
  2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
  3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
  4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.
NOTE: Your audio and video should work. Enjoy.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.

SOURCE: Logitech 9000 recording problem

My suggestion for recording music of any sort is to disable the cam mic and use a good quality mic plugged into the sound card as the mic in a cam is more suited to voice.

How do I upload a PowerPoint presentation to Youtube

You can't. Youtube only supports video formats. Instead use a screen recorder like camtasia studio (Its paid but its good) or fraps (Its free) to record the presentation on your screen and post the recorded video on Youtube. If you want you can narate through the ppt as you show the slides or add your voice or music later using camtasia studio.

Acer aspire crashes and to reboots when i try to record video game footage

There is a good chance of still getting a blue screen with a OS upgrade. You should try a clean install. Then try testing the RAM. Leave one DIMM at a time and swap to one slot at a time. This may help identify a bad one.

I used to record Skyrim gameplay with Fraps, it's a rather good one and its basic version is free.
I can also recommend the following open source tool to record screen. It's free of charge and there are no troubles occuring while using it.

How to use a microphone on the computer to record

To record your sound via microphone in Windows XP
go to START> All Programs> Accessories> Entertainment> Sound Recorder
The software will open. Now click on the record button to start recording.

To save the the recorded sound go to FILE menu and select save.
This software has certain limitations like you can only record sound for 60 seconds. After that you have to extend the time manually by clicking on the RECORD button again.
Here are some useful free sound capturing & mixing software:

Try googling for more software.

Fraps capturing widescreen from 4:3 monitor?

I honestly don't see increasing your resolution to 1920x1080 helping your YouTube videos at all. In fact, it actually will make it worse when the video is encoded and shrunk down.
"...you'll need to save the video in a format that YouTube can accept in order to upload. Unless you're a professional video producer, we recommend that you save your videos as either QuickTime .MOV, Windows .AVI, or .MPG files— these are the most common formats and they work well within our system. We specifically recommend the MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format at 640x480 resolution with MP3 audio. Resizing your video to these specifications before uploading will help your clips look better on YouTube." http://www.youtube.com/t/howto_makevideo
To answer you question about Fraps, the simple answer is no. Fraps is simply taking the info that is being sent to your monitor. If your graphics card or monitor cannot go to that resolution, you are stuck.
Luckily, you only need 640x480, so you're all set!

Tv format conflict warning message

I think the reason for this is if you record at a framerate > 25-30 fps (in fraps for example). Try it with a video recorded at 30fps, it should work.
