Question about HP DeskJet 940c InkJet Printer

Open Question

I had paper jam in a HP 940c printer. I removed some of the paper from the front and the balance from the rear. Now I have a flashing orange light which I think indicates a cartridge problem. The print head moved back and forth while I was trying to remove the paper and I wonder if I damaged the print head. I tried new cartridge, but no help. I should have turned off the power.

SOURCE: Bogus paper jam

I had the SAME problem with my printer and after hours of searching on the web I found this solution on fixyourownprinter.com and it WORKED! I cleaned the contacts of both of the ink cartridges and then popped off the cover of the optical sensor on the side of the ink cartridges (black plastic cover over sensor assembly snaps off) there is a hole in the middle of the sensor, push it in with a thumb tack or toothpick and push up on sensor assembly and it will come off the side, clean the contacts on that and reassemble..the blue sensor light should come back on and you should be back in business.

SOURCE: will not print / cartridges will not move back and forth

I had this happen to me the other night and I had to restart the printer to get the print job out of the que. You could try that.

While it's restarting, unplug the power cord and the usb cable. That should reset it.

Unplug this beast. Take the old ink cartridge out and re-insert. Also, check for any other jammed papers that need to be removed. Then turn this beast back on. See if that does anything old chap.

SOURCE: since removing and replacing the casing to my hp

There is a switch at the bottom of the paper feeder. Check if the switch has been properly set. It will stop the blinking of the paper out.

Orange light is flashing

I cleaned out the printer by removing any access toner. Made sure again no paper was stuck and then it worked.

Hp 845c orange light keeps flashing

When the orange light is flashing, either paper jam or ink problem is happening.Try unloaging & reloading the stack of paper in the main tray. Remove & reinsert ink cartridges in the printer. You may also clean the contacts of the cartridge and inside the product.

Check paper light flashes, when paper loaded and no jam present

Might be a pending job gone wild. I would turn off the printer, then go to "Control Panel" and click "Printers". Double click the one you're having problem with, delete all printing documents and re-connect the printer.
You can also try a differnt USB cord or port, otherwise - the machine needs a factory reset.
