I have a Hoover Platinum carpet cleaner, and it has stopped dispensing cleaning agent and water. This model has a separate tank for water and separate tank for shampoo dispensing. It also has a power hand unit that dispenses shampoo. All along the hand unit has continued to dispense shampoo. Symptom #1, the water tank seemed to be taking on shampoo, as it was getting sudsy. Symptom #2 - On wash mode, nothing would come out, on Rinse mode, sudsy water would come out. Later, symptom #3 - nothing is coming out, except shampoo at the hand unit. There are no lights on for any of the tanks, all seems in order, I empty the dirty water after each use, and use only the platinum shampoo, and warm water in the water tank. I have had this unit about a year and use it monthly for spot cleaning for cat throwups for an aging cat. I have never used it for whole room cleanings.

pump inoperative or feed tubes clogged. need to check the small belt; not the main belt.

check for tank not seated properly. look for air leak at all seals. no water unless clean water tank is correctly seated.

Hi there! To prepare for cleaning, put the solution and water in the top tank. While cleaning, all the dirty water gets sucked into the bottom tank. To clean squeeze trigger to release cleaning solution and slowly push carpet cleaner forward, this equals one wet stroke. Continue to squeeze trigger and slowly pull carpet cleaner back toward you (second wet stroke). Release trigger and slowly push carpet cleaner forward over area just sprayed with solution (dry stroke). Then slowly pull carpet cleaner back toward you without squeezing trigger (dry stroke). To avoid saturating the carpet don't do more than 4 wet strokes over one area. Always end with dry strokes. Here is a link to view the instruction manual if needed.

You probably have a solenoid valve which has failed and will not open. This will require replacement of the valve. For temporary use you can mix a soap solution and put it in the rinse tank. The correct mix is 5 ounces of Hoover shampoo to a gallon of hot water.

1.Remove bottom tank and look for pinched hose. 2.Use small screwdriver or toothpick on small holes which disperse solution-remove rotating brush first. These were problems with my steamvac (f5861-900 model).

the clean water goes into a "Bladder Bag" that is located inside the tank. The way it is designed to work, as the clean water dispenses from the bladder bag, the outer part around the bladder bag fills with the dirty water. It never touches the clean water. Make sure that the recovery tank is completely close.

Take the clean water tank off, and look at the underside very carefully. This tank is made of a very thin plastic, and chances are, your tank is cracked or broken. Sometimes the valves fail as well.

There is a new tank available, a single-piece tank instead of separate water and detergent reservoirs. The part number you want to look for is 42272104. The new tank does NOT come with a handle, so save your handle and use it on the new one.

Search for this new part number online and find the best price. I have seen them for around $40.
