It sounds like a problem with the camera itself. How long have you owned the camera and how long have you had this problem? Once I have more information I can assist you further.
Thank you,
Lee

This is an issue with the camera and not with the download process or with the computer ..Try to see if you can watch them on the camera and if they seam to be ok ...If they are ok in the camera ..its tricky cause it may be a download error indeed ..or a problem with a missing codex..for to see the videos..
My advice is to reset the camera to the factory settings from the main menu ...and after that make a trial and see if the new recorded stuff (after the reset of the setting s) is still the same ...If it is ..this means that the footage is in a strange format and you need to convert or install a codec for to be able to see them right ..
here is a codec with a wide area ...

It sounds like a codecs issue on your computer. A codec is a program that compresses data to enable faster transmission and decompresses received data. You didn't say what operating system you're computer is but you can download codecs packs from Microsoft or Apple directly from their site. Be very careful using any other codecs from other websites as they may contain malware!

I own cannon G9. I fail to get good sharp open outdoor pictures at night especially in place not well lighted. Do I all the time have to take pictures Manually to get sharp pictures as we do with focus...

If you have tried using the auto setting and it is still doing the blurry pictures it sounds like a problem with your camera not the settings themselves.
This blog http://www.teleplancamerarepair.com/camera-repair-blog/post/Got-Blurry-Pictures-Blurry-Image.aspx suggests a couple of the reasons might be:
"When your image appears distorted and with altered colors, in most of the cases there are two possible reasons:
- The internal shutter gets stuck , does not open completely or
-
The image sensor is damaged.... "

Downloading to computer

Sounds like a Vista or Picasso problem. Suggest you use explorer to copy photos directly from camera to a folder on your computer, then look at them and see if they are OK, if so, it is a Picasso problem. If the same, is likely a Vista problem. If still in doubt. Take memory stick to a photo lab and load on their system and see what you get.
