What Operating System are You Using?

For a Mac:
Launch "Keychain Access" it is in the utilities folder
Look for items with the kind of "AirPort Network Password"
Find the one with the same name as your network (SSID)
Double Click It
Then click "Show Password"
Enter your login password at the prompt, and click "allow"
Done.

Windows:
Not really a non-overcomplicated way to do this, you are best off resetting the router:
Instructions Here:
http://www.belkin.com/support/article/?lid=en&pid=F5D5231-4&aid=1564&scid=220
if those dont work:
1. unplug all cables from router, including power.
2. use paper clip to hold reset button
3. plug in power ONLY
4. wait 15 seconds
5. release reset button
6. re-do the setup for the router, setting a new password in the process

If it is the password for the router's wireless connection that you forgot, the only option is to reset the router to factory default condition, then re-enter all you configuration information (including the wireless password), and then change the password in the other computers to match.

There is a "Reset" switch that requires a paper clip or similar item to depress it (with the router on) and hold for about 10 seconds, then release. This puts the router back into its factory default state.

Hope that's helpful.

I have forrgotten my wep key password how do i connect a new lap top to the router by wireless

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.15.1
or
http://192.168.2.1
If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.

Click on wireless settings then WPA Security then not down code .It is your password to connect wi fi..
Then you can connect your wi fi network with that code.

Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

When i try to connect my lap top to the wireless router it asj for a username password and logon domain

I think the operating system on your computer is Windows VISTA. You network must be secured. Make sure that you have all the wireless settings of the router. if you don't know the wireless settings of the router then you will need to open the set up page of the router and check the wireless settings .
You are getting the message about user name and password and domain name.
In this case you will need to add the wireless network manually.

Installed belkin router for my lap top - doesnt work

Hi,

Thanks for using Fixya!

You have the right gizmo there. You just need to set it up correctly. If you are in the US contact belkin @ 1 800 223 5546.

You need to know your ISP type first before trying to contact them. Know if you have a PPPoE (High speed DSL with password) Dynamic IP internet (no user name or password required to connect to the internet, usually used by cable internet providers)

After you find the right information just contact belkin and they will assist you with the proper router usage.

Have a great day.

Connect the router directly via lan to your computer.
goto setup of the router: usuallly via the ip-adress of your router (see manual, usually: 192.168. ***.*)
Now look at the network security-settings .

Connection problem

The first thing to check is that both of your computers are assigned to the same workgroup name. Right click 'my computer' and select properties. Change the workgroup name so that they are identical on both machines. You will need to reboot if you change the name one one or both of the machines.

Belkin n1 router - wireless light not on - laptop has limited connectivity

If could be that you were unable to reset the router properly. You have to make sure that the router is on while pressing and holding the reset button using a paper clip. the reset button is usually found at the back of the router, then you may have to reconfigure the settings again.

you can also manually access the router page for you to change the settings.
