Toshiba vm42 beta player won't stay on play

Wow! A beta unit.

what most likely is wrong is the drive mechanism is either worn or slipping or you have a bad belt that drives that.

A trick to try--put it in fast forward and let it run all the way to end of tape and then rewind all the way a few times.

if it will then try to work in play it is either a idler (rubber drive wheel) or slipping belts.

They used to sell kits with the drive idler and all the belts but that was a long time ago..........

Tape Stuck

I've checked the entire user manual which notes problems like this need to be referred to authorized service personnel. Myself, I would unplug the entire unit, put it on a kitchen table using a phillips (cross-tip) screwdriver to remove the top metal shell. Remove at least 2 screws each side and 2-5 rear screws securing the top. Nothing like peering inside to see what is causing the VCR to get stuck and help remove it. No release pinhole or tape freeing ejector will work if the unit's tape is tightly wound around some internal object or the tape is stuck because something foreign is inside the unit. I have a Sony 2300, and also a new model Super Beta that have the same problem. The unit powers up, but when it accepts the tape it will power down within a few seconds.

Hello
Open your VCRs top cover, and watch if the take up spool rotates after the tape has engaged to the drum motor. If take up spool does not reel up the tape driven by the pintch roller, the take up sensor will sense it and will shut down the system to prevent further damage to tape. If it doesn't rotates, check belts for loose, and gear wheels for worn out. OK.

The wick will not raise

If you allowed the fuel to run out then the wick is probably ruined, you will have to replace it.

Sony Beta sp deck 1800 wont take larger tape down

Most likely problem when a Beta SP deck won't take the large tapes is a bad cable in the cassette housing. Replacement isn't too difficult, and the cable only costs about $20.00.

Sony PVW-2800 Beta SP Deck / Tape wont load - Error 20

Error 20 is "Cassette compartment motor lock" this is meaning the cassette loading mech is not accepting the tape It could be miss-aligned in it's position or one of the sensors is defective or the motor is bad

Why wont my camcorder allow my tape to go in

I have the same problem. Let me guess... you put the tape in, it makes a few loud annoying beeps, then ejets the tape. I replaced the battery and it worked fine for a few days, then went back to its old tricks.

Rca 4 gig mp3 player siries rd2762b wont turn on system file curpted

I actually fixed this!!! Mine had been giving me the "file system corrupted" error. So, I opened it up (unscrew the screw on the back, pry the back cover off with a small flat head screwdriver or a key, etc.) and saw that the connector between the CF drive and the motherboard had come apart.

I re-inserted the cable into the groove of the connector on the motherboard, pushed the broken/separated piece of plastic that serves as a retainer for the cable back down, held it in place, and taped it down with a 1/4 inch wide strip of duct tape (taped all the way around the connector/cable to help keep it in). I put the Lyra back together and then turned it on... and it WORKED! It came right on into the normal menu! Yay!

Good luck other people, I hope that this is the same thing that happened to your player and that you can also fix it! =)
