I receive an MP3 M 4804 for Christmas. I wanted to download books on CD that I own. After trying for 4 days, I way able to get an 800 # (1-800-645-4994.) for help from RCA. I was told that the only way to download CD books was use Audible.com....a site where you have to buy the books. I confirmed this with a second call to RCA... So I returned the MP3

I just had a similar experience. The sound quality on the RCA player is great--but my primary purpose for getting an MP3 was to download audiobooks I'd checked out from the library. Those are in OverDrive WMA format. I, too, am returning the RCA.

After I returned my RCA MP3, I just didn't do anything about buying a new one for a few weeks. Then I purchased a Sony MP3 player from WalMart. It does everything I want it to do, and the best part there is a Sony 800# that helped me a lot....maybe 4-5 calls. They did a remote control of my computer and showed me online how to accomplish transferring. I was never on hold very long...at most one minute.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Where are audiobooks placed on the rca mp3 player 1702 so that they show up under audio books?

Your mp3 files will be organized under the audiobook section if you alter the ID3 'GENRE' tag values of your files to read "Audiobook.'

I use a great piece of software called MP3TAG, which is freeware and easily sourced online. Very fast, very powerful software.

I hope that helps.

Audio book download

The RCA Opal supports Audible audiobook downloads almost exclusively. You can transfer audiobooks that are in mp3 or wma format, but they will not play like regular audiobooks - they will play as one continuous file. I would use Windows Media Player to transfer the audiobooks to the player, but you can drag and drop using Windows Explorer also.

No audiobooks file

Try downloading the latest firmware upgrade from www.rcaopal.com - hopefully, the update will reload the missing folder in a way that the mp3 player wil lrecognize.

I cant download music

Go to RCA web site at http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/downloads.aspx?product=235 and download the latest firmware upgrade first. The new firmware allows your player to read .wma files you can drop and drag files to it or us media player to transfer the music to the player, you must note this player only plays .mpy or .wma files musicmatch was the only jukebox that could convert to mpy and it doesnt exist anylonger youll have to convert your mp3 to wma files then transfer them to your player or when you rip music, rip it in wma files to begin with

Manual is available online at RCA's website if it has been misplaced:

Turn shuffle off - p.16 of your manual - to get songs to play in sequential rather than random order.

For Audiobooks - p. 13 of manual:
Press M twice to enter Home menu. To play
music files, highlight “Music”(or "Audiobooks"
to play audible files) by pressing or .
Then press to advance.

Rca junk

When RCA first came out with the Lyra series the only way to get music onto the device was by using musicmatch jukebox that would convert your mp3 file to mpy before downloading it to the device. But now RCA has come out with a new firm ware update for these mp3 players that improved the players playback quality plus enabled it to use .WMA files. so first go to RCA support http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/select.aspx?u=downloads and find your player and download the firmware upgrade and install to your player its very easy and instructions are at the same site. You can now convert your music to .wma or use the free Real player that will convert mp3 to wma at the kbps that you request before loading it on. If your music is all ready in wma format you can use windows media player to send the files to your player. One last thing the .wma files that you put on your Lyra player need to be at least 128kbps or higher enhanced playback quality of wma files (160 kbps to 256 kbps).
