Power supply irratating hum

1st of all, are you sure it's the Power supply that is humming and not one of the Cooling Fans inside - Cooling fans are often a lot more noisy than power supplies. However, if it's definitely the power supply there's a couple of things you can try.
1st of all, it's never a bad thing to get your vaccuum cleaner out and (on a low power setting with the computer turned off) just vacuum out any dust that might be in the fan of the power supply.
2nd: Is the hum coming from the power supply itself or from something the power supply is vibrating against - try moving the unit a little, and ensuring that there's nothing wresting against it.
I'm presuming you've checked the cabling and ensured that the power cable (from the wall) is firmly connected? If you haven't checked that.
3rd - if you feel confident doing this, turn off the pc, open the case and just check to make sure that there are no internal cable resting on fans or on the power supply. Lastly, if none of things fixes the problem and your machine is under warranty, I'd send it/take it back to the place you bought it from for a replacement (remember to back up any data you have on your computer first though otherwise you'll lose it)

Trying to find which fuse goes to the rear window washer.

First have someone stand near the washer resivor while another person trys the switch to wash it. Listen for the motor to hum. If nothing is humming then you can check the fuses. If it is humming then make sure the resivor is full of fluid. There is a panal on the right hand passenger side in the rear where the resivor should be located. If not right then check left. Its back there some place.
Once you have checked that and no go get back to me and I will help you find the fuse. The Raz

Loud humm when the drive channel is on

I suspect the power supply has an issue. Most likely bad filter capacitors. This could cause "motorboating" where power is drawn and supply voltage collapses and then recovers repeatedly.

Time for the repair shop. The parts cost should be nominal... labor... well...

My tv is ringing, how can I fix?

is it like a buzzing sound? is so then it would be coming from your speakers. and would possibly mean a new sound board is in order. another possibility is that their is a hum from the power supply unit. but that's the power control board on the tv. this can also cause audible humming. if it sounds like a high voltage hum from a 60 hertz cycle then it is the power modal on the board failing more then likely.

good luck with it. and get a second opinion as i can easily be wrong. thanks for using fixya

Low Hum Noise in Bearcat III Scanner

Yes, it does sound like a bad power transformer. Try powering it using a DC supply or battery and see if the hum goes away.

EMachine will not turn on.

Sounds like the power supply is faulty. Power supplies are very dangerous to try and repair, even for qualified technicians. I would also suggest not trying to plug it in or turn it on until the new power supply is in place. Faulty power supplies have been known to cause motherboards to permanently malfunction. Note: researching your issue, I came across several forum posts with complaints about emachines and their power supplies. The best way to solve this problem is to purchase a new power supply. If shopping online, www.tigerdirect.com and www.newegg.com are two places that specialize in PC hardware. A 400-watt power supply would probably more than do the trick for you. The cheapest one I found was $18.00. Make sure the power supply is compatible with your motherboard before you buy.

No Picture on PDP4294

Normally the sets have seperate power supplies for the input/main logic board and the HV which drives the panal (could be 2 parts on the same board). It sounds like you have a problem with the power board that drives the panal and HV. Check to see if any fuses are blown, if the fuse is blown, you can try replacing it, but if it continues to pop, then the main fets that drive the HV are shot and will need to be replaced.
