You must sync the remote. To do this first take off Battery cover of remote.(leave batteries in) Then press the tiny red button on the front of the wii console next to the sd card slot for 2 seconds. Look at the back of the remote. In the battery compartment there is a tiny red button that looks like the one one the wii. Press it and they should sync. Now your remote should work.

Please rate.

The pointer or "hands" dont work properly

If the pointers don't show up it is a strong indicator that the sensor bar isn't working or connected properly.
I don't think that it has anything to do with internet access but your wireless router should work fine as long as you have a USB wireless access card and then go into your settings and connect the devices, which is an easy process.

"pointer is jumping all over the screen"

Make sure there are no obstructions in the way of the Sensor Bar. Or try replacing the batteries on you Wii Remote.

When I push button on control the light doesn't stay on and the pointer is not showing on screen

The Wii-mote probably just needs to be synchronized to your Wii. Open the battery compartment on the back of your remote and the front SD card slot on your Wii. Push the red SYNC button on the Wii and then the little red button on your Wii-mote and it should sync to your console.

Wii remote works but not for wii sports

If you're wii remote works as a pointer but not when swinging it then it is a problem with the accelerometer inside the wii remote and not the infra red bit on the end. Good news is its usually just stuck as mine was. Nintendo recommend turning the remote upside down and giving it a few taps on the palm of your hand. Worked on mine and saved me £30 as i was about to buy a new one.
