Smashed front door from rugs inside
I called the LG hotline, and they kept passing me from person to person, when I asked to speak to what they were calling a "technician". They were going to call me back. Right. I hung up, decided to call later.
So....went to the laundry room, and took pictures. My ex volunteered to do some networking here for me, saw it and said you'd have to have done that deliberately.
I called later and got a "technician" who said that the problem was due to abuse of the machine. The 'load' was a 19 minute rinse and spin. I'd put a bath mat in it, but called it a rug. She said that is on the back page of the warranty. I said, it was a bath mat, she argued, etc.
I went to Home Depot at 8PM. 'Brian' looked up my order since I could not find it. He said it is after hours for HD.
The man who answered, "Gilbert", told the Home Depot Appliance person that I'd abused it, had called that day, and it was all in the 'notes'. He noted that the incident happened on the last day of the LG warranty, and was suspicious. Brian was persistent and kind with the 'technician' - firm. (Gilbert outed himself). The warranty ends Sunday, today, not yesterday, then goes into extended which is a different provider. 'Gilbert' because he is too far east to be on our time. It was morning for 'Gilbert'.
So, I have to call back on our Monday and fight the good fight. Neither Gilbert nor Brian, myself, friends, ex-husband had ever heard of this type of damage. Brian said he saw it once, when a customer accidentally slammed a shopping cart into a front loader that had an open door. Not unusual, perfectly understandable.
I don't have to post back here and thought at first I'd be telling my story just to follow up instead of a solution, but actually here it is:
Read your manual and your warranty.
Know when you purchased the LG, or find out.
1. Call. If you are mistreated, which I had been, hang up. and call again. Firm and polite, not reactive.
2. Ask for a supervisor.
3. Ask for their supervisor.
4. Be clear at all times as to what happened.
If no resolution is reached (I was actually written off at 3pm as an abuser of my machine).
5.Go to point of service and request clearly that you know they back your item and you'd like them to call.
6.If they say that the HD line is closed, or your point of service (their connection is not 24 hours) cannot contact, ask them to use the 24 hour customer service. Get names, fax numbers, and case numbers for your complaint. The assign a number or code to every call.
7. Don't give up. I won't. I did not mess up my machine, and I will have it replaced, I am entirely confident.
Thanks for your forum!
