PSS26MSWA SS GE Profile Refrigerator: Ice is not being dispensed. The driven shaft from the motor does not rotate. You hear something tries to do something when calling for ice. Ice cubes are produced just fine. T setting is at 0 degrees. Could motor shaft be frozen ? Would hair dryer help (or hurt).? No excessive frost noticable. Thanks very much.

SOURCE: GE Profile Ref. Ice despenser motor does not turn. Auger turns

I had this same problem today, and after tearing apart the door and digging with the multimeter, I found that the bulb was drawing to much current {probably due to age} and that pulling it made everything else start working. The high resistance was drawing too much current from the IC on the door panel board.

I'm going to get a new bulb tomorrow, but if you yank the bulb it'll probably work. {If you have the same problem}

SOURCE: ice dispenser will not switch back to cubed from crushed

Had the same problem, dispenser stuck on crushed ice, even when cubed ice is selected.  There is a magnetic switch behind the panel where the motor for the ice dispenser is.  It gets water in it and freezes so it is not free to go up and down.  It is always down for crushed, but for cubed ice, the magnet pulls it up.  when it's frozen with ice, all you'll get is crushed.  You'll have to defrost it.  You can defrost the whole freezer, but better to just remove the ice dispenser and defrost that. Three 1/4'' bolts hold secure it.  You'll have to unplug the wires from the back of the freezer to remove the unit. The just let it defrost and dry. You can remove the switch from the panel and dry it out too.   I've had to to this several times and am looking for a solution to keeping water out of the thing so it won't freeze again. Has anybody solved that?

SOURCE: Ice dispenser only dispenses crushed ice

You may not need to replace the solenoid.  If you hear the hum, and not a loud click and don't see then rod move, it may be frozen with ice.  Test it manually with your hand, it should be free  to move up and down.  If not, then it is frozen with ice.  Remove the ice dispenser and let it thaw and dry out.  You should then be able to move to rod and it will work fine, at least until it freezes again.  Anyone know how to prevent it from freezing up? Its a continual problem for me

SOURCE: My GE SS Side by Side Refrigerator is not

At the bottom of the freezer door ( remove the kick plate ) , there will be a water line . Follow this line , about 6 " to a connector . Push in on the white ring and pull out the line , at the same time . Activate the water dispensor pad and see if water flows from the line under the refrig . If it does , then the line in the door is frozen . Either raise the freezer temp for several days , so the line in the door will thaw , or , I have heard using an air tank will blow the ice out of the line in the door . If no water comes from the line under the refrig , while activating the pad , then replace the water valve , behind the refrig , the piece the wall water line connects to on the refrig . GE also has a dispensor heater , to help keep this from happening again , if , the water line is frozen . Pt # WR49X10173 .

Ice not dispensing from door

So, with the ice bin removed and the door switch depressed does the motor on the back wall turn or is there any other noise when you try the ice dispenser switch. You can check for voltage at the motor. If you get voltage when you try the ice dispenser switch then the motor is bad. If no voltage then the dispenser switch is not making th conntection.

GE PSS26GRE SS not dispensing ice

Hi,
The first step you need to do is to turn the water off to the refrigerator so it quits making until you get it fixed.
If your fridge has the control boards in each side of the freezer cabinet that controls the icemaker, then you have a failed board. If you have a standard icemaker with the metal shutoff arm then you have a failed motor module in the icemaker. You can remove the icemaker and unplug the wiring connector from it so you can leave the water on to the dispenser.

GE Profile Fridge Model No. PSC25MSWA SS not making ice

Check to see if there is any obstruction (object of any kind) in the ice cube mold area. If nothing found, you will have to replace the icemaker, as individual repair parts are not available.

Makes ice fine but doesnt dispense

Sounds like the dispenser auger is frozen up or stuck. The lights dimming happens because the voltage drop from the stuck auger's motor when you try to use it. Remove the ice machine and clean it. Do not try to take it apart!
Sometimes, the ice machine will fill too much with water and get stuck. Often, it's because the cabinet isn't level.

Icemaker makes ice; door dispenser cranks, but no ice dispensed

sounds like either the dispenser motor is bad or the dispenser yoke is stripped. remove the bucket from the freezer. you will see a u shaped yoke in the rear of the disp area. this should be fairly hard to turn by hand if it turns easily then the motor gears are bad if the yoke slips on the motor shaft then you have a stripped yoke. hope that helps. peyton...
