SOURCE: mixing of shampoo

Follow the directions on bottle of carpet shampoo and mix it another container according to the directions. Then fill your Bissell 1400-5 solution tank to the line. Replace the solution tank and use the machine.

You can try adding hot water, but your best bet is to remove the tank and hose and flush them well with hot water to clean them out.

I filled up my Bissel power steamer with hot water. I also filled up the formula mix. It turns on and sprays. The "dirty" water was seen the first time I used it. Now there the clean water is on the carpet and no dirty water is in the tank what"s up???

You didn't give a model number so I'll tell you both methods. The F5xxx and F6xxx models have a cap at the top of the clean water tank that doubles as a measuring cup. The cap is about 3 inches in diameter. Fill the cap to the fill line with shampoo and dump it in the tank. Then fill the tank with hot (Not Boiling) water.
The F7xxx series has a 2 section tank. The large section is for hot (Not Boiling) water. The smaller section is for shampoo. Fill the smaller section with shampoo and the Steam Vac will mix the water and shampoo for you in the proper proportion.

Bissel Quicksteamer leaking

Hi there SmartAlec from here. I do a lot of work on the Vax range of machines (very similar) and 90% of the time it is the filters and/or the seals once they get a build up of shampoo on them they no longer seal properly but once removed and rinsed thoroughly they work again. Rinsing the machine through with clean water after a shampoo job will help this not happen again.
Hope this helps
Happy Vacuuming! :)

No water or shampoo releasing

Take off the 2 spray nozzles and blow thru them, they may be clogged. You ay also try running a mix of water and vinegar thru it to help clean out the lines. May have a bad pump.

Soap dispenser

Probably plugged with soap. Try to clean the hole under the shampoo dispenser. Put plain water in the dispenser and hope it gradually cleans it out.
