Most likeley there is ice buildup in the venting between fridge and freezer. Then when you try and adjust the control it either goes way too far one way or the other.

My refrigerator keeps freezing on the refrigerator side

your damper door is frozen fully open between the refrigerator and freezer compartments and letting in too much cold air even though the temp setting is set on warmest setting, defrost it and then adjust the cold control and see if it moves again,if it freezes often the door seals may be letting in warm air from outside, condensing and freezing things up

Refrigerator gets too cold and freezes all the food

This is a common problem that often doesn't have a clear, permanent solution. The first thing to check is the overall internal refrigerator temperature (see the Appliance Accessories section for a refrigerator/freezer thermometer). The proper temperature should be between 35 and 42 degrees. Here are some things to try:

  • If your refrigerator temperature is closer to 35 degrees, try turning the temperature up slightly.

  • If you find that the temperature varies a lot from the top shelf to the bottom (where it is coldest), try putting produce and other sensitive products on a higher shelf.

  • If the temperature is too low and you can't make it warmer by adjusting the thermostat, you probably have a defective thermostat. If so, you need to replace it, because they cannot be repaired. Other possible problems are a leak in the sealed (refrigerant) system, cold air migration (in side-by-side models) or a defective air damper. These problems can be quite difficult to locate and correct, we recommend you contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

Refrigerator won't shut off

First of all, please recoil the tubing and put it back. exactly where it was. If you do not, when we figure out the real reason for your unit to keep running and make the repair, you will not have any cold water at your fountain dispenser. That chills the water so when you want a glass of cold water, it supplies the cold water that is laying in the tubing first. Next, set both adjustment controls to their middle settings and then in the fresh food section, al the way at the rear of the ceiling, you will see louvered vents. I want you to use duct tape and cover 2/3 of the vents and wait 24 hours for everything to stablize. After this period of time, let me know how things are now and I will instruct further, if needed.

Waiting to hear from you,
Eric Campion
