Quite possibly the lens is in need of a clean. It sounds like it is acting a bit like when you see a moon on a night with high cloud, we see a ring around it caused by the atmosphere, much the same as dust on the lens.
Hope that helps.

My Mitsubishi 65 inch DLP will not turn on. I tried to turn it on last night and the tv seemed to power up but no picture was present. I tried to reset, and the same thing happened. I pressed the Menu...

Hi,
looked up owners manual that was a waste of time, hmm the number one issue on this type of set is issues with the lamp. How old is it? Has it ever been replaced? Sometimes a visual inspection of lamp can fool you, but typically as they age a milky haze develops on the lamps glass or if it popped the lamp will be shatttered inside. Can't hurt to check it. make sure set is unplugged first just to be safe.
