Question about Bosch Dishwashers

1 Answer

When I use those gel pacs they never completely dissolve. The water is hot enough and I've had a repairman in to see if there was any problem and he didn't find anything wrong. I've even tried liquid detergent and sometimes that doesn't even completely come out of the cup. I make sure the cup isn't blocked so water can get to it. What's the problem? Help! I hate my dishwasher and am sick of having to put my dishes through 2 cycles!

Hi,

The problem could be that the soap cup is not opening properly or on time when it should...

Yes... it is opening... but maybe with not enough time to disolve or do it's job...

There are three common problems that cause the Soap Dispenser or Cup not to open. I have a tip that will explain these problems in detail....

Detergent Cup does not Open

Gel paks don't dissolve

Before you start the machine make sure the water is hot enough going into the dishwasher. Sounds like the water temp is not hot enough to melt paks or dispenser is not opening.

Detergent does not dissolve

According to the "manual" the most likely problem is your water is not hot enough. Water temp should be between 120 and 140 degrees.

Also, I would NOT use gel detergents since they have a reputations for not dissolving and can leave some real tasty residue all over the bottom of the machine, especially the heating unit.

DISHWASHER WILL NOT DRAIN EVEN AFTER WE PUSH THE CANCEL/DRAIN BUTTON. I DON'T KNOW WHETHER TO CALL A PLUMBER OR WHIRLPOOL REPAIR.

First of all, if you have been using the gel pacs...stop! They don't dissolve completely and cause a buildup. This happened to me and we replaced the hose and solved the problem (about $25). I also had to take apart some of the assembly and scrap off the powdered substance that solidified around the drainage holes. Good luck!

My dishwasher won't drain, and leaked out onto my hardwood floor!

I ordered a new hose and the problem is fixed! I probably could have just simply taken the old hose off and flushed it out; but the powdered solution, that is supposed to dissolve, had solidified and clogged the hose in several places. Strangely, it had also made like a filmy flap at both openings. Gross!

Soap hardens in the dispenser and dishes don't come clean

Either your dishwasher is not getting the water hot enough to dissolve the powder, or you need to switch brands. Try a liquid/gel type of dishwasher detergent.
Try stopping the washer a few minutes after you start a wash cycle. Open the door -- if there is a lot of steam coming out at you, it's not the water temperature. If there is no steam, your dishwasher is not getting hot water and/or the heating coil is not working.
