On the router there is 4 slots. Then there is one off by itself. The lonesome one goes from modem to router.
The 1-4 slots are to hook up computer, video games, ect right to the router.

If you're talking about disconnects between the modem and your PC, check to see if your network cable is hooked in properly and make sure it's not showing signs of damage. If you're surfing wireless, try changing the wireless channel (frequency) your modem broadcasts on.
For problems with the modem losing its internet connection, try checking the cabling between the router and the telephone socket or coax socket, or make sure to contact your ISP and ask them to test your line.

Belkin 54g Router won't connect to internet.

If you can access the configuration page of your belkin router you have to copy the MAC address of your computer to the router. The router has the capability to clone the MAC address. It's because if you have a cable internet connection the MAC address is registered in the server.

Hi, since your Internet source is the ISP modem, you have to connect the cable from it to the yellow connector of Belkin router, then you can connect the VoIP router and computer to any of the ports (connectors) labeled 1-4 , remember to restart clients (PC & VoIP router) to get the new IP from Belkin router.

Belkin Wireless G Router causes loss of internet connection

Does your router have one LED lamp for each "wired" port?
If so, does unplugging the Ethernet-cable (the one that connects to your desktop PC) cause the lamp to go off?
Does reconnecting that cable cause the lamp to go on?

Also, on your desktop computer, there could be a lamp right beside where the Ethernet-cable connects into your computer.
Again, disconnect the cable, and reconnect the cable, to see if that lamp goes off/on.

Have you tried a different cable?

Do *NOT* connect your desktop computer to the 'WAN' port on the router -- connect it to any of the "LAN" ports.

Belkin router

I just worked on one of these today. Try this and see if it helps.

1. Unplug your cable or DSL modem and your wireless router

2. Plug back in the cable or DSL modem and wait for the internet to successfully connect (watch the lights).

3. Plug the wireless router back in again and wait for it to connect (again, watching the lights)

If this doesn't work, make sure you have the equipment plugged-in in the right order.

cable or dsl signal goes to modem ==> modem plugs into wireless router ===> computer plugs into wireless router.
