Question about Broan-NuTone Vacuums

1 Answer

My broan cv30 purchased in 1996 carpet power head unit sucks up dirt and rocks but will not pick string or yarns up from carpeting. I find myself picking it up. It is sucking fine dirt and small particles but won't pick up stiring or yarn that need extra brushing from the carpet. Do I need a new motor for the powerhead unit-is that replacement still available?

It's possible you simply need a new belt or roller brush. Place the power nozzle upside-down turn the vacuum on. Ensure the brush turns. If it doesn't, the belt has broken or is too worn to turn it. Replace the belt. Make sure the tension is properly set prior to reassembling the power nozzle.
Next, with the power nozzle upside down, run the flat of your palm across the brush area. If you can barely feel the bristles, it needs replaced. A good brush will loosen the yarn and strings, but needs to be cleaned periodically.
As long as the powerhead motor is running, there is no need to replace it. If it's not running, look for a reset button and press it. There could also be a broken wire, loose connection, or bad switch causing a power head motor to not operate..

Dirt devil breeze bagless height adjustment mafunction

Hi there! If your vacuum is suddenly hard to push your roller lifter assembly, which controls the automatic height adjustment, may be damaged or broken. Check your roller lifter assembly located underneath your unit for damages. Also, your brushes help to maneuver through carpet, check that your brushes are still spinning. If not, replace the belt on your vacuum. I have included a link where you may visit to purchase a replacement belt for your vacuum. Hope this helps!

Seems to be sucking up the particles from the actual carpet, either the pad or carpet itself Help???

It sounds like there may be sand in the carpet. If you live in a sandy area, this is not unusual. Walking on the carpet will cause the fibers to rub on the sand and eventually be cut through. The vacuum is strong enough to pick up these fibers, but not the sand that's causing the problem. I recommend buying a vacuum that has enough suction to pick up the sand. One that you don't have to replace every couple years.
My recommendations would be: Aerus (once Electrolux), TriStar, Filter Queen, or Royal. Avoid any that have plastic fans, as the fan blades will wear down fairly quickly with sand being vacuumed.

Good chance the tube from the base up the handle is clogged. Try removing the bag and look at the exit, that is where most clogs on this unit occur. Look for hair, string, etc. If clog is not there, then may be in the tube or at the base swivel unit to the tube interface.

Once you clear the tube, re-attach bag an d power up unit, be careful that it does not throw some debris at you.

Hi There, The machine does not actually suck the suds up. Basically the machine lays the foam down which then crystalises and absorbs the dirt in the process. Once this has had around - 4-5 hours to dry then you vacuum up as normal taking the crystalised dirt away. You should really use the Genuine Kirby product as it's very good but you can also you any other DRY FOAM shampoo. Hope this helps Chris www.elidistribution.co.uk
