Question about Toshiba Satellite A300-0CF035 Notebook

My toshiba keeps freezing on a disc consistency check and is randomly freezing during use. I can't run any malware scans or antivirus scans that are long because, once again, the system will freeze. This computer is only a year and a half old- I'm wondering if there is something I can do other than having the hard drive wiped...

If you have time and are allowed to do so, try glary utilities. It is a free small and very fast and very effective virus remover, computer registry cleaner and optimizer and much much more. I recommend this to everyone.

Have virus

Get a good anti-virus application (I recommend the excellent and free AntiVir) and run a full system check. Remember to update the antivirus application with the latest virus definitions.
Also worth installing an anti malware application (I recommend Anti-Malware) and running a full system check as well.

My computer, Windows XP, freezes when I use Firefox

Your system loaded with Windows Xp Operating System might get affected by various viruses and malware. The antivirus softwares installed in your system for the removal and prevention of viruses from your system cause the freezing issue. This antivirus softwares might take too many time to load and it also make the entire system slow to boot. The antivirus programs result in the freezing of the Windows Xp during start up. Thus you need to temporary uninstall the antivirus software during the start up of your system.

My Asus m51 keeps freezing. when using internet or office media player ect can you help?

System freeze may be due to overheating or Apllication failure or virus or worm infection.

Open the notebook and get it clean with an Air Blower.

Scan your PC with a good Antivirus like kaspersky Internet security 2010,A-Squared Anti-Malware with their lastest definiton updates install.

Type "msconfig" in the "Run" prompt.
Click "startup" tab
Untick all the programs that run during system startup except Antivirus program.

Clean your PC with any system Cleaner software.

This will most probably solve the problem.

Use Mozilla Firefox or Opera for web browsing, they are more secure than Internet explorer.

Use VLC Player for all media play as it takes little system resource while running.

Clean your system for junk files and registry errors.Yamicsoft's WInXP manager is what I recommend.
Here is the link

Note: Microsoft Dotnet framework 2.0 or later is needed in order to install WinXP manager.

Let me know if it's helpful to you.But i somehow disagree with the conclusion addding more system RAM with stop system freezing.I take the idea that it will surely imporve system performance speed but will not solve freezing.

L305-S5907 not booting up. sits on "please wait". can you help me?

Windows normally starts  the required services and loads the program that are need to run properly.Sometimes it includes the program we configurely to run during start up like Antivirus.Due to some appliaction error or services not able to launch in time,Windows takes a long time to reach Deskyop or even freeze.

Check if you can get access to windows in Safe Mode during startup by pressing F8 key, uninstalled all the application that you have recently installed or application which you think after installation caused the problem.

Click start button, select "Run", type  "msconfig"  Press enter.

Click now on Startup tab, untick all the program that loads during system start up.

Scan your PC with a good Antivirus like Kaspersky Internet security 2010 or A-squared Anti-malware with their lastest updates installed.

Malware,Worm,Virus too can caused the problem.

Nothing the problem still persists, download "Hiren's Boot CD"
Here is the download link :  http://d2.hirensbootcd.net/Hirens.BootCD.10.1.zip

It's has all the tools to repair a system, you can even restore your system to the time when everything was fine.you can even take you rhard drive image or backup your important data if everything fails and you need to do a new Re-installed.

Let me know which one work out for you.

Hello and thank you for using Fixya services.

From the sounds of your issue, it may be that you have malware or a Trojan. You can run a scan using this free
malware/antivirus protection. I am not sure which antivirus you are currently using but this one is free and has excellent reviews. You will need to uninstall your current antivirus protection first before installing this one.

Malware/Trojans can disable your antivirus programs and make it look like everything is running smoothly. By running a complete scan with another program, you can get the malware out. Even the best antivirus can be disabled.

Please let me know I can be of further assistance.
