Question about Xantrex Technology Xantrex SW Series Inverter/Charger - 2500 Watt, 12 Volt, Model# SW2512MC

Open Question

I have stacked SW4048's. They worked fine after power outage. I tried my new generator which switched in and out of circuit (AC2) I guess it isn't large enought to run both chargers and load. After an hour I shut it off. Now, with utility power restored, the invertors switch between AC1 and inverting. I did get both to run normally for most of the day and we had ample solar energy being delivered. Normal meaning Line tie, AC1 and float lights on. Than as it got dark, they starting acting up agan. (cycling from inverting to AC1) I have confirmed AC1 is good, batteries are OK, solar and charge controllers are all good. I did a factory reset and all readings on both invertors appear correct.

SOURCE: I have a motor home with a Trace inverter/charger.

More than likely you may a a relay that is stuck or not energizing which should switch the charging mode over automatically. Trace back from the generator to the charging circuit for the batteries. I'm not sure where the relay (or solinoid) would be located but you can be assured it is something in the charger sensing/switching circuit.

Good Luck! Gary

My kohler 5000 generator will not run unless I keep the starter button depressed

First thing to do is get a "Wiring Diagram" for your Unit.
Once you get the diagram, just Follow the DC Ignition Power path from
the Battery, on thru to the Ignition Coil. Somewhere you aren't getting
12Vdc to the Ignition Coil, UNLESS the Start Switch is in the Start Position. It shouldn't take longer than about a hour, with a VoltMeter to find where the circuit isn't being "Made", and fixing or replacing that part. More solutions to different engine and generator problems at and

My AA Mini Maglite needed a new bulb, and I am upgrading with a 3 white LEDs and a tail cap switch ... but now nothing I try can get the torch to work. Can you possibly, help, please?

You've introduced two variables to your flashlight, and each needs to be tested independently. It's possible that one--or both--isn't working properly. It's equally possible that one or both of these replacement parts isn't perfectly meshing with the conductive areas of the maglite body, meaning that they're not completing the basic circuit needed to power the light.

The best way to test your tailcap switch is either to try it with another maglite or test its continuity with a multi-tester. With the tester, you should be able to toggle between readings of infinite resistance (switch off, no circuit) and little or no resistance (switch turned on). If you're stuck at infinite resistance, there's a problem with the switch.

You could test the LED insert by using test clips to touch power to the module to see whether it will light up.

My guess is that the components are probably good, but that somewhere along the line, there's a break in the basic circuit. My leading suspect would be the connection from the LED module to the negative (flashlight body) side. It could be that the module is slightly out of round and it's simply not making contact. It could be that the finish of the maglite is acting as an insulator. However, I would recommend deferring this analysis until you've confirmed that each component works fine.

Good luck!

Same problem, generator kicked in after power outage,

At the point the transfer switchis suppose to transfer put a dc volt meter across terminals 23 and 194 in the transfer if you do not show 12VDC. Then you have a relay hanging upon the PCB board in the generator, need to replace board. If you are showing 12VDC and the switch is not transferring the problem is in the switch itself.
