Question about Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

2 week old top load HE washer. dark clothes have visible residue that I have to scrub off at the sink. I am using HE detergent and I am not using too much. I'm sure this is on the lighter clothes too, it just isn't visible. second problem is twice I have had clothes (one a sheet, the other an undershirt) that have dry areas that appear to never have been wet. In the case of the undershirt it was stretched out and ruined. Third problem, minor spots on clothing (one a toothpaste spot on a blue tshirt) does not come out during the wash. I've followed all directions. I put detergent (liquid) in prior to clothes, I loosely pile clothes in the tub and carefully measure detergent. I am using warm water. I am not over loading. however, I am ready to return this washer and get a traditional water hog top load.

I've had the same problem with a Cabrio I purchased in May 2010. I've been "experimenting" ever since and after contacting Whirlpool, and setting up service calls (2 different companies), I was told it was operating as designed. I contacted executives in Benton Harbor, and the BBB, and they agreed to swap the machine. I'm having the same problem with the new one. If I use the "normal" cycle for a load of dark clothes, the residue that is left requires at least one, and usually two, extra rinses. That's hardly energy efficient!!! Customer Service called yesterday and asked if I wanted another service call. I don't think that would make a difference; it just appears to be a poor design. All I can do is use different cycles and less than a full load and hope for the best.

Why does my LG top load washer have mold in the detergent area?

This is a common issue, they make cleaning products to remove this gunk. Hot water and bleach will kill it as well.

How do you clean **** buildup in a top load washer?

9 WASH PERFORMANCE INFORMATION
9.1 Creasing
Creasing can be caused by over loading the washer or the dryer. Permanent Press or Delicate
cycles have been designed to minimise creasing as they use a lower spin speed. Do not leave wet
clothes to sit in the washer or laundry basket.
9.2 Soiling
Soiling is the result of insufficient detergent for the load. White clothes are better washed
separately. Separate lightly and heavily soiled items, as clothes can pick up soil from dirty wash
water. Cold water below 68oF / 20 oC does not wash effectively. Select the wash temperature
according to soil type. For example, blood and mud are better washed in cold water, while sweat
and oil based soil wash better in warmer water. Loads made up of articles of varying sizes will
wash better (e.g. full loads of sheets may not wash that well). Hard water requires more detergent
than soft water.
9.3 Linting
Wash lint givers (eg. towels, flannelette sheets) separately from lint collectors (eg. synthetic
fabrics). Over loading the washer can increase the likelihood of linting. Insufficient detergent for
the load can increase linting as there will not be enough detergent to hold the lint in suspension.
Over drying synthetic fabrics in a dryer can cause a build-up of static electricity and result in the
fabrics attracting lint.
9.4 Detergent Residue
Over loading the washer can result in detergent residue being caught in the creases of the fabrics.
If this occurs, decrease the load size. Some detergents need to be pre-dissolved. Check the
instructions for the detergent. Cold ambient temperatures, cold washes or short agitation times
may not let the detergent dissolve properly. In these cases pre-dissolve the detergent.
Overdosing of detergent can also cause residue when foam breaks down and will show as white
specs on the clothing. Poor quality detergents can result in residue.
9.5 Black Marks on Clothes
A build up caused by the interaction of fabric softener and detergent (scrud) can flake off and mark
clothes. Do not use too much fabric softener, maximum 75cc. If this is a problem, it is
recommended that the machine is periodically filled with hot water, plus 1-2 cups of dishwasher
powder and left to soak.
9.6 Grey Marks on Clothes
Not enough detergent for the amount of soil on the clothes can result in grey marks on clothes. If
this is a problem it is recommended that the machine be periodically filled with hot water, plus
detergent and left to soak.
9.7 Dye Transfer
Wash and dry non-colorfast clothes separately. Non colorfast clothes left sitting in a washer or
laundry basket can transfer dye to other clothes.
9.8 Tangling
Washing with too much water (i.e. under loading) can cause the clothes to tangle around each
other. Do not load the machine by wrapping clothes around the agitator

I have front loader washing machine and the rubber has got mould and having difficulty in removing the black mould

  • Saturate an old cloth with white vinegar. Alternatively, you might use petroleum jelly on the cloth to remove the mold.Pull the gasket out gently with your hands to reveal the mold and mildew buildup inside the folds of the gasket.Wipe the mold away from the gasket with the cloth. Continue working to wipe away all mold from the folds of the rubber gasket.Dry the folds of the gasket with a dry cloth when you finish removing the mold.Repeat this procedure at least once per month to prevent mold and mildew from forming. If you notice mold occurring more frequently, clean it off when you see it.

  • Tips for Preventing Mold & Smelly Problems:
    • Always leave the door and dispenser unit slightly ajar after the laundry is done. Front-load washers and the detergent/softener dispenser drawer must dry out.
    • Never leave a wet washload in the washer overnight; remove it when the washing cycle is complete and leave the door open.
    • After a load is done, always rotate the drum with your hand to see and remove all items. Some could be sticking to top or sides of the washer drum.
    • Use softener sheets in the dryer instead of liquid softeners in the washer.
    • Liquid detergents may leave less residue than powdered formulas which may not dissolve properly.
    • Use less than the recommended detergent level for your load. Too much detergent can cause a residue build up. Experiment until you find a minimum measurement that delivers a clean wash. This is also a money saver.
    • Occasionally wash some loads such as whites, linen and towels in warm or hot water to help flush out wash residue.
    • Always clean your washer as per your product manual. High efficiency front-load models have a cleaning cycle and it's imperative that you periodically run this cycle as directed.
    • Check the gasket just inside the door opening and remove any visible debris. You can also wipe it to speed the drying process.
    • Always use HE detergents with high efficiency front-load washers. Specially marked HE laundry detergent is low sudsing and is recommended for these low-water washers.
    • If this advice was helpful a vote with the thumbs up would be appreciated. Thanks.

When washing dark clothes in my Cabrio washer they are left with a white residue. I have been using Arm & Hammer HE detergent. Any suggestions? I am not using too much detergent. A friend uses...

Hello harnweys. Definitely switch to another brand of HE detergent, and always choose a liquid as opposed to a powder. Finally, be careful not to overload your machine, set the water level to a higher setting too! Joe

GE WSXH208FWW washer leaving spots on clothes

If you are getting round dark spots on your clothes after washing, the problem would be cause by a bearing seal leak. What happens is water leaks pass the seal into the bearings, and the grease leaks back into the wash water. To fix it would require the machine to be literally taken completely apart to get to the bearings. Very costly to repair. Sorry.
