Hmm, wonder if it could be a board or ????? You've already tested the foot control and it seems to be okay, so the problem would appear to be in the machine itself. Does the light work? That may be another clue.
May be time for a service call.

He had the machine all tuned up and ready to go, decided to try it one more time, and the machine didn't move. Tried another foot control, and still nothing.
The theory is the internal circuit board is the problem.
