My washing machine door has dropped and will not open is they anything I can do myself to unlock it?

Much of the answer to this depends on the model of your machine, but I'll take a shot at it this way.

Firstly, I'm assuming this is a top-loading machine with a hinged door. If so, you'll see the entire top is separate from the base (a small seam goes clear around your washer) which can be raised.
(see photo)

You might need to pull the machine away from the wall slightly to get clearance and you will probably also require use of something to use as a pry bar, like a big screwdriver.

Place your screwdriver tip in that seam and twist slightly, so as to not damage your finish. It might require a few tries, but the top will pop away from the bottom.

Once you raise the top section (that includes the lid and the big opening your put your clothes in) you'll see the drum and the stop mechanism just underneath the lid.

There will be some sort of latch there, and it'll be lodged through a loop that prevents you from raising the lid. Manually push that catch away and raise your lid, then once it's secured, lower the entire top back and snap it back into place.

When i turn the knob to hot water on washing machine no water comes in

The most common cause of the symptom you are describing is a bad drive block which has probably ruined your basket drive as well. Let me give a quick explination. The weight of the basket you put your clothes in is supported entirely in the center of the washer underneath your agitator. It rests on an aluminum block called your drive block. So that the basket will move back and forth while the washer agitates, there are two tabs on the drive block that lock your basket drive underneath in place. Once the drive block wears out or round down these tabs, the basket will raise slightly and "skip" across the top when the spin cyle is stopped. To verify this, you can check one of two things. First (and easiest) is put a heavy, large load in the washer, get it wet then spin it out. Once the washer reaches the maximum spin speed, open the lid. The washer should snap to a halt when functioning properly. What I belive you'll find is that even with the lid open, the basket will continue to spin. The other method to verify this is take the top of the agitator off. Next remove the bolt in the middle of the agitator and lift the agitator off. In the middle, you should find a large flat metal colored nut.In the middle of that nut, you should see two tabs across from one another. There should be two straight pieces of metal coming up from the bottom which have nice, straight sharp corners. Again, if I am correct, you will find they have been rounded off and there may even be shavings of metal visable.
To replace a basket drive and drive block, you will need to purchase the parts and also a specialty tool from removal and instalation. These will probably run you around 125-175. If you are interested in giving it a go, reply back to me and I will get you some step-by-stpe instructions typed up.

I cant get the back off to get to the belt can yiu help

If there is a rermovable panel on the back of machine you should see screws that hold the cover in place........if not it is held in place by clips that can be "un-latched by a flat head screw driver in the 4 corners on the back..if not there then, the top part of washer will unlatch and raise .much like a car hood raises.

Cannot seem to get it level

If you need the washer raised up, place it on a sturdy box structure, not some light posts. Check the internal suspension system of the washer to make sure that it is not bound up in some way. Take the machine top off to do so. Hope this helps!

Lid not turning washer on

Sounds like a lid switch problem most likely. When closing the lid, slowly lower it and listen/feel for a "click" when the lid is about 3 inches from being completely closed. If you don't, then you have a broken lid switch.

The model of washer you listed, TAWS800JQ, has two different possible lid switches and you get to them differently.

To get to the lid switch, you need to remove 2 screws that hold the control console in place. There is 1 on the left and 1 on the right of the console. They can either be on the front side and easy to see, or on the back side. Loosen those screws so that the console is free and you can flip it up and backwards out of your way.

One type of lid switch can be seen on the left side after you flip the control console up and back out of your way. There is just a little clip that holds it in place. The lid needs to be raised in order to remove the lid switch. Unplug the wiring harness and replace.

The other type, do this:
Then use a flat blade screwdriver to remove the brass spring clips on the left and right side of the washer that hold the front/sides/top on. Unplug the lid switch in the middle of the washer top and then you can remove the wrap-around cabinet. The lid switch is under the top and is held in place by clips and 2 screws.

Washer case fitting onto frame

Some will just fall right back into place then there are those like yours that well, prayer never hurts.

I always open the top so I can see what I'm doing.

The cabinet should be leaned back about 45 degrees so the front lip goes under the front of the washer frame. Keep it at a 45 angle while you push it forward with your foot. The front of the washer frame must be off the floor at least 2-3 inches. Some that have the legs run all the way up will require raising either with the legs or a piece of wood.

Once you have the front of the cabinet under the washer frame, hold pressure with your foot and lower the cabnet down on the frame. The back of the frame has a metal *** sticking up that must go in the slot on the cabinet. Some times it will require doing one side at a time to get them in place.

At this point you should be able to push the back panel back into place. Sometimes one side at a time, sometimes I will go ahead and push one side in and put the bracket in then do the other side.

Hope this helps. I'll be pray'n for you.

Wont spin unless you use a tool to depress the contactor in the little slot on top of washer lid..seem like the piece is loose or has lost a screw..works and spins fine if you hold piece down with...

You cant raise the lid. You have to take the sides off the top panel, and unscrew the two phillip head screws. Then remove the two brass clips(very strong). Then pull the whole cabinet off. Then repair lid sw. Be carefull when putting cabinet back on, you have to make sure the back of cabinet goes on the rail with the clip into it, if you dont put back on right it will vibrate.

Washer won't work after the lid came off and was put back on

It sound like a lid switch issue. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. You have to raise the top of the washer to get to the switch. Look if it is not broken, moved from its place or has a lose wire. If it's defective, it should be replaced. Be aware you should plug out washer's power cable first ! Good luck!
