Question about Kitchen Ranges
Posted by Anonymous on
There are several causes of this.
Here is a list to check. Some of this may seem silly, but follow it through
1 Water supply to back of fridge is shut off.
2 Tube that supplies water is pinched or kinked closed. Similar to a Kinked garden hose.
3 Solenoid valve (electric valve that opens and closes that supplies water to ice maker tray has failed)
4 Solenoid valve does not seal completely allowing water to seep past it. If this is the case the tube inside the freezer compartment will have a solid piece of ice in it which prevents water from going into the ice make. (very common cause of failure) Take very close look at the tube. Usually it can be removed and reinserted fairly easily. You may possibly have to remove the Ice maker. That involves more work, but not a great deal. Let me know if you need to remove it and I'll write you a procedure.
5 Ice maker feeler arm up (crescent shaped cube style of ice maker) shutting it off.
6 Switch inside Ice Maker that controls fill valve failed. Or other parts in it failed.
7 Replace ice maker. (usually costs less that getting it repaired)
8 County did not pay water bill to the state, and they shut off your water to collect.
I hope this helps. As it happens to be new years eve. Don't let this ruin it in any way. Get a bag
of Ice at the local store and have a HAPPY NEW YEAR

There is a water line leading to the icemaker. The line should have a water filter in it. The filter can get plugged. Also on the maker should be a bar that you should be able to lift up and hear the water enter the machine. You can use a meter and tester power to the icemaker

The water supply line from the water inlet valve enters the rear of the freezer and releases the water into a large diameter fill tube. The fill tubes hangs above the fill cup which funnels the water into the ice mold. If the fill tube and fill cup are improperly aligned, water may spill out instead of going into the mold.
