Hi. I have an IBM R50e laptop (Windows XP) with a PCMCIA slot. I'm trying to install the Linksys WPC54GS Wireless-G notebook adapter with SpeedBooster. I followed the exact instructions on the installation manual, but after I insert the adapter according to the instructions, the Power LED almost never stays lit. Then when I click 'next' anyway (either with the LED on or off), the window disappears and nothing happens. Needless to say, I don't get any connection.
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling, restarting, installing the driver downloaded from a website, deleting the old driver from Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Manager and so on. Now when I insert the card, the power LED only flickers once and then stays off. The computer doesn't recognise it at all, not even from Control Panels->Add Hardware.
When I go to Network Connections, there isn't even a Wireless option.
I need help in getting a free download for my Linksys WPC54GS Wireless-G Notebook Adapter V2.0 Driver.
I have a wireless-G Notebook Adapter WPC54G V3 but not working to my computer because the cdinstaller is damaged so that it is not working... where the site if how to install that.. thanks kindly send me my email [email protected] the solution..thank you!
There's a possibility that the adapter is defective. However, you may still try the following:
1. Make sure to uninstall the software if you still have it installed. Remove it from the Programs list or under Add/Remove Programs.
2. Check Device Manager and make sure adapter is not under Network Adapters nor Other Devices. It might be called Network Controller if driver is not installed correctly.
3. Unplug card, shutdown computer and when PC is powered off, plug card back and restart computer. You may insert the CD on this process, but do not run/continue the CD setup wizard.
4. When computer is back on, you should get a Found New Hardware bubble message or wizard.
Just finish the wizard and tell me how it went. Goodluck!
