Does disconnecting all the speakers make a difference? If so, troubleshoot the short out to a speaker.

If not, it's due for a trip to the ER.

IS YAMAHA AMPLI RX SERIES RIPP OFF

Maybe the problem is with your speakers. Shorted speakers or speakers that are being over-driven can cause the receiver to shut down and possibly be damaged.

Yamaha receiver picture disappears and reappears when changing volume

I had the same problem with HDMI input to the RX-V373 from a DirecTV receiver. The RX-V373 volume display and menus on the screen are HD only, which forces the monitor to switch modes when viewing SD.

My solution was to turn off 480i and 480p signals from the DirecTV receiver, and also turn off its native output. The DirecTV receiver then upconverts SD signals to HD. Changing RX-V373 volume then doesn't affect monitor video mode.

Yamaha RX-V595a receiver shuts off 2 seconds after its powered on

The first thing called out is the impedance switch on the back is not fully in one or the other position. Cycle the switch back and forth to make sure it will 'read' each setting, then turn it on.

Also make sure you if you have anything connected to its convenience outlets that they are not drawing more current than is allowed.

Did you buy it used or new?

Yamaha rx-v456 av receiver, shut down with optica cable

Does it work without PS3 attached?
When receiver turns off, it is usually due to badly connected/configured speakers. Try powering on the receiver without speakers.

Amp turns of after 2 seconds of turning on

It is going into protection mode, and shutting itself off. You have a short somewhere. I would suggest taking it to an authorized service center for assistance. This is not easy to diagnose, as it could be anything causing the short.

Try disconnecting everything from the unit, including the speakers, and turning on again. This will just confirm that the problem is the amp, and nothing external. Also, try connecting it to a different power supply/socket.

Yamaha rx-v461 not working

you have a faulty circuit somewhere, whether its in speaker wiring, or power source, i dont know, but your reciever has an automatic circuit breaker in it for protection, and a faulty circuit will trip it, i would assume it is a power source problem since it wont turn back on, check wiring, plugs and look around, and smell for burnt, or hot components.

Hey there! Nice receiver :0)
Sorry about your troubles. I've been where you are with an Rx-V2600. Would turn on and after a few seconds click off. I thought maybe it was bad wiring but even completely disconnected it would still do it.
I took it to a shop and I was told it was a bad channel. Luckily I mentioned I had a Denon receiver that had stopped working and he said he would take that as payment.
He fixed the Yamaha and it's been working for years.
If you search the internet you should find a local authorized Yamaha repair center. I would take it there. They marked charge like a $30-$50 fee to look at it but usually they apply that towards the repair.
