Question about JL5010 7 Dual Foot Air Chuck

1 Answer

I just put a new air chuck on my compressor because my old one was not letting air flow when I put it on the valve of a tire. Now, the same is happening with the new one. When I push the little actuator in the chuck, nothing happens, or sometimes a quick burst of air comes out. Is this a problem with the chuck, or could it be the tire valve?

It's most likely the valve core. Sometimes they get jammed up, especially if you put a brass valve core in a stem that's attached to a TPMS sensor. If the stem doesn't have a sensor in it, then you can remedy this problem fairly cheap (my shop charges $1 for just the stem, but $6 to have it put in). If it is a TPMS stem, then you'll probably have to replace the sensor (last one we had to replace cost $156).

Hope that helps!

The compressor's metal end that fits to the bicycle tire stems no longer works. It does not clamp- snug to the tire stem for air inflation.

You shouold be able to go to your nearest hardware store and tell them you need a new air CHUCK to replace your old one. Cost should be pretty cheap.... under 10 bucks

Yes, you will need a tire chuck to add air in the tire. And don't over fill the tire, okay?

My compressor will not hold pressure

Hey, David,
The first thing I'd look at is the check valve. That's the last fitting in the air line going into the tank. Brass. Take it out and take it apart. You should find a little stopper attached to a spring. Make sure the stopper is directly on top of the hole. reassemble and try. If no joy, probably the pressure valve.

Good luck!

The adapter for car tires should work on the bike tires. If you are using a compressor with a regulator and gauges then with a full tank of air adjust the regulator so the output gauge is set to the pressure you want the bike tire be be. This makes it take longer to fill the tire but reduces the changes the tire is overfilled and damaged. If you have an old fashioned bike pump and want some exercise that is different than biking then that works also. The valve stems on the bike tires have threads just like the car valve stems and the valves and caps are interchangeable.

The compressor keeps runing and will not cut out on the pressor it is set on the new switch it is electric compressor

If the pressure relief valve ( or "pop off" valve as we call it ) doesn't relieve the pressure by letting out air then your gage that you are using to determine the pressure may be faulty. Use a tire gage to double check yor pressure gage or just put another gage on.
If this is a "oilless" compressor then the rings may be bad.

I have 89' jeep cherokee went to check air filter and found alot of oil in breather box thought i had bad pcv valve but autozone says doesnt have one 4.0 litre throtle body fuel injection

The solution is to remove the grommet on the valve cover (for the small line) and replace it with a grommet for a 1985 CJ7 along with the PCV valve for the CJ7. Prior to replacing the grommet, you must bend a metal tang inside the valve cover using a screwdriver. This tang is what forms the "spring" in the built in CCV valve. Bending it up, opens the valve all the way permanently.

Next, take a 3/8 inch quick connect air chuck (the kind you screw into a blow-gun or tire chuck for use on an air compressor equipped with quick connect fittings) and replace the screw in nipple on the manifold (where the original tube attaches) with the air chuck. The chuck is an exact fit (threading and length)but has a much larger internal diameter for the crankcase gases to flow. Finally run a section of 3/8 inch fuel line from the newly installed PCV valve to the new air chuck nipple you screwed into the intake manifold. Attach a hose clap at each end of the fuel line and you're done.

Can't get a bead on tire

Hey mate,

The problem in you are not getting enough air flow past the valve its restricting all the flow into the tyre!!!

With your valve stem, remove the valve with a valve removal tool, then you will get no restriction of air flow also use a hand air gun instead of tyre inflator this should pop the bead on then it will go down again, reinstall the valve (you can put some spit/saliva on the valve for a good seal) then use a tyre inflator and pump it up to the desired pressure...

Brad:)

Gauge says tank at 120 lbs of pressure, but won't fill tires

sounds like you have a bad batch of schrader vales on your tires OR

you have a defective chuck end that is not milled properly to push the schrader valve and let the air into the tire stem
