Takes a couple of cycles to dry the clothes-why?

How long does it take you to dry your clothes? Normally, it takes 50 minutes (1 cycle) to 1.5 hours to completely dry clothes. However, if it's taking you at least 3 cycles (probably 2.5 to 3 hours) to dry a single batch of clothes, then, there might be a problem with your dryer's igniter.

Sure the outside vent is not clogged up? If so it will overheat and turn it self off and do a poor job of drying the clothes.

Also check and make sure that all of the heating elements are working properly.

you need to change the motor or some fuses but mostly they are whole together.

2 things are needed to dry clothes. 1 is good air flow. Check to make sure that the dryer vent is not clogged or partially clogged with lint. Also make sure there are no kinks in the vent hose. With the dryer running you should feel good air flow blowing out of the outside house vent. The 2nd thing a dryer needs heat. Check to see that the dryer feels warm to hot when you reach in to tough the clothes. It is possible that the heat element has partially failed. Another thing to investigate is how well the laundry machine is spinning out the water in the spin cycle. This spin cycle is used to get as much water out as possible prior to placing the clothes in the dryer. The wetter the clothes when they come out of the laundry, the longer it takes to dry them.

If the clothes are hot when they come out but moist or damp it mean the moisture is not getting vented, Check your vent pipe for blockages or leaks.

You should have a cycling thermostat. this is most likely bad or your dryer vent may be clogged. Something is cutting the heat off before it gets hot enough. Both these cause this problem.

Have the vent system from the back of the dryer to the outside of the house cleaned. If the dryer can't push air out, it can't bring air in, and the clothes won't dry. Another condition you might be seeing is moist lint developing around the gasket on the inside of the door. That's a sure sign the airstream is restricted somewhere.

Test the sensors for continuity. Could be one side of your 220v is not working. Check breakers and ac outlet.
