You'll need a CF reader/adaptor for your computer, and software such as this

http://www.softwarepatch.com/software/smartrecovery.html

Just type "recover CF card data" and you'll find a host of downloads.

SOURCE: I have installed a Sandisk

You need to plug the reader after windows starts because some computers think the usb device is a hdd & tries to boot from that device.

Hello:

Usually the disk has a little small switch, move it to unprotect the disk.
If your disk does not have an little small switch or button, Use directly an utility program to delete the normal partitions and format the disk.

Thank you for using FIXYA!

I bought a Sandisk Extreme lll SDHC card , that came with a reader ( ImageMate 8 in 1 SDDR-88) I cannot get this reader to work properly..I am using Windows XP. I apparently, do not need to update or...

It rather sounds like you're inserting the card after inserting the reader into the PC... am I wrong?

As long as the device is detected in the Device Manager (system properties), it should be fine.

Insert the card first, then insert the USB reader. From there, check that you get a drive-letter. If you do, great.. if it's brand new, it may require formatting the disk before you can open it and start putting things on it or using it in a camera.

When you say "no files are detected", i'm assuming you don't simply mean "there are no files already on the SD card"... because that's normal if it's new. =-]

How to download a driver/disk for my SanDisk Imagemate 12 in 1 USB 2.0 card reader

For cardreader you don't really need a driver for it , that should be a plug in play when you connect it to your pc because it function like a flash disk that the OS can automatically installed driver for it.
