Question about Zanussi Dryers

1 Answer

My Zanussi dryer TD 901 EC was on along with the washing machine. The fuse box stopped the electrical current on both. When I reconnected the electrical circuit the washing machine went back on but my drier would not go back on. I am wondering if there is something I can do to reconnect the drier to the electrical source as it is still plugged in but not going on. Is there a switch or small part in the cord & plug to be readjusted? As the machine is about 15 years old I am wondering if repairing it through a repair service is worth it. Thanking you in advance. Patricia

Hi Patricia. Of course it is hae=rd to be sure from a distance, but the electricity supply (fuse box) turned off either because of an over current spike...or a short circuit. I would think it is possibly a short in the Zanussi which may have shut the fuse off and possibly at the same time burned out a live wire inside the machine. My advice...disconnect from power and call a repairman. Hope this helps.

If it doesnt run at all its nothing to do w the thermal aspects at all. The motor would run regardless just no heat. Check all paths electrically to the motor and be sure to check the motor itself.

SOURCE: GE dryer, black grease stain on cloth

I have the same problem, I haven't resolved it but it seems to be due to the drum of the dryer being able to move more than it's supposed to and things getting caught in between the drum and whatever it sits in, at the front of the dryer. I have found things caught in there before and when I've pulled them out they had a brown/yellow grease stain on them. Other times something in the dryer will have this same stain - although no longer caught it seems it must have been caught at some point then became free again, with the stain. I'm thinking something is loose or if the drum is supported at the back by a bearing of some sort, this bearing may be worn down and the drum isn't sitting right.

Check if it still turns but no heat. If it's a kenmore or whirlpool, it's like a fuse in back of dryer. I would need mor info if it's not these models

Why is my Zanussi dryer stopping after 4 minutes it is heating and tumbling

As you are aware, every year manufacturers of products in this country try to make their products safer, and in the case of clothes dryers, they try to make them less susceptible to fires from accumulated lint.
To that end, it is probable that your clothes dryer has accumulated lint internally, and either some fuse (or fuses) or one of the "shut-off-thermostats" is kicking in every time you start it.
Someone will need to take the whole machine apart and clean out the lint, and check the fuses and thermostats with an electrical tester.
The lint that accumulates is not caught by the lint screen, it is throughout the inside of the machine in the tubing.
God bless your efforts.
( P.S. I have taken several machines apart and found a whole shoe-box full of accumulated lint inside.)

Where is the heater element in Zanussi td 421

They are under the drum in a metal box that is connected to a heater hose and wires. Make sure you unplug it before you work on it. Note the location of the wires that connect to it and also there is a thermal fuse and thermostat that are hooked to the box. Check those too.

No hot air in zanussi dryer td 160 t

I'm not an appliance engineer nor am I familiar with this make and model but depending on your technical skills you may be able to identify the problem by means of testing internal parts with a multi-meter.
If you feel that the machine will otherwise be binned you have little to lose.
First you must take into consideration safety of yourself and others who may use the machine.
You'l also need a variety of basic tools and a mutli meter.
You can remove the outer casing and test for continuity in; heater elements, motors, fuses, switches and any wiring from terminal to terminal.
Look for any obvious signs of wear and tear or any possible causes; burnt out components on circuitry, trapped or worn wiring, broken parts etc.
Ensure that when putting it back together anything you may have disconnected is reconnected!
Disconnecting any earth terminals would fail the machines vital safety function. This is of great importance due to the machine using both water and electricity!

Zanussi ZWD1680W Front Load All-in-One... Problem:

With the symptoms you describe i would suspect a intermittent heater element fault as you are getting earth leakage current which is tripping the whole supply rather than a current overload which would just trip the socket circuit breaker. Get the heating element checked over first as this is the most likely cause.
