The card is most likely an SD card which has a lock on the side of it to protect pictures from deletion sometimes this switch gets pushed in the wrong direction. I'm including a "generic" picture/diagram of this switch.
i have a fujifilm 12.0 - tri3mast_46.jpg
Also you will need to format the memory card before it will work properly and be totally compatible with the camera you will need to look in your camera manual for this information. You didn't give me the model of the camera or I would have been able to direct your to the correct page. Once the memory card has been formatted everything should work just fine.

If the slide switch has broken off then the easiest solution is to get a new memory card.

Internal stoage loss. Protax dc 1200 digital camera

Hi,

It is possible that the camera's internal storage media has a limited capacity ( I was made to understand only 32mb). Perhaps what you need to do is use an add-on SC Card to the memory with a bigger capacity, say 1Gb.

It is also possible that you simply need to re-format the memory card/storage.

In some models/versions, settings such as in SHQ (super high quality) while in 12 megapixels or high image resolution (4036 X 3026) or such a combination would result in an image size that is quite big and therefore would occupy a big portion of the memory.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Screen says "Memory Card Protected" and will not take pictures.

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Why can't I take more than 3 pictures with internal memory? It then says internal memory is full.

The camera that you have only has 10 MB of internal memory , if you are taking photographs at 12 megapixels only 3 photographs would fit as each photograph would be around 3 MB each. I would suggest to buy an external memory card and take photographs on that. The internal memory is only for demoing and checking if the camera works and not for standard use. Buy a SD/SDHC card , they are very cheap nowadays and have immense capacity to hold lot more photographs.

The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

I had this same problem and as the **** above suggested I read the manual. The problem is not in the camera it was on the memory card. There is a little (yellow in my case) slide button on the side of the memory card itself that you can slide to "Lock". Mine was inadvertantly in the Lock position, once I slid it out of the lock position, the "Card Protected" error no longer occurred on my Fujifilm FinePix Z.
