SOURCE: shuts off when high pressure wand is attached

Hi Brian. Welcome to FixYa I am Kelly. This sounds as if the bypass / unloader valve is stuck in place and the pump id dead heading causing the unit to shut off. (There is most likely some corrosion in the unloader / bypassy valve assy / housing. What you can try is pouring at least 3 oz of oil into the water inlet assy and briefly.... like VERY briefly switch the unit on then back off. Then let it sit over night. The next day connect everything for normal use then turn the unit on again briefly. Use a bucket to PURGE the oil that you put through the system by squeezing the wand Power SW Off until the oil purges. Then switch the unit on and rapidly trip the trigger at 0.5 sec intervals or less. If it trips off wait 5 mins and try it again. Do the rapidly tripping the trigger on the wand routine for about 20 seconds. Your forcing the bypass unloader valve to cycle trying to clear out any debris / corrosion.
This works often and well. There are exceptions. Hopefully it will work for you.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Kelly

I can't get the pressure washer to start up. The water is coming out of the hose, but there is no water pressure

If the washer is the kind that shuts off completely when the pistol grip is released, the problem is likely the little pressure sensor located near the output fitting (the threaded part to which the hose connects). The sensor is a little plunger held down against an opening in the side of the pipe by a spring when there is low or no pressure in the output pipe, as when the trigger is pulled and the pressurized water in the hose is released by pulling the trigger. That completes the electrical circuit and the washer is on and continues pumping water. When the trigger is released, water in the hose and output pipe jams up super high pressure, forcing tjhe little plunger out against the spring, and the electrical circuit is broken. If you take the case apart, you will see wires coming from that area. The fix (if this is the problem) is to free up the little plunger.

I have a Maytag Bravo Washing machine, and am having trouble with the drain cycle. I have replaced the pump twice and have checked the drain line. My washer will start and get to the drain cycle and it...

Here are some pointers to look at to determine the real problem. The code Ld indicates that the water level does not change after the drain pump is turned on.The machine/motor control detects such condition through the water level pressure sensor located in the control itself.

Since the drain pump is definitely not the problem, either the drain hose is blocked or installed too high, or the pressure sensor system is malfunctioning. Check if water is actually draining or not. If yes and the tub is actually empty when code appears, then the problem is in pressure sensor system. If no, then check for drain blockage.

Unplug the machine. Remove the three screws from the rear of the console assembly then pull console towards the front of washer to hinge it open and remove console. The machine/motor control assembly is located on the right hand side of the machine that is enclosed in a casing with a clear tube/hose connected to it.

jahn27_416.jpg

The clear tube/hose is the pressure hose. Check to make sure that everything connected to the machine/motor control assembly is properly attached and fully inserted and the pressure hose has no air leak, kinks, or moisture.

Turn off the water supply to the washer and disconnect the hot and cold water hoses from the rear of the washer then remove the end of the drain hose from where it is installed. Remove the eight screws from the rear panel and remove the panel.
Inspect the pressure hose for evidence of water then replace the hose if water or moisture is present. Inspect the air dome hose connection port for lint or flashing.

Use a small round device such as a small screwdriver to ensure that there is nothing blocking the air dome outlet on the tub. Also disconnect the pressure hose from the machine/motor control and blow air forcefully down the hose and also into the pressure sensor inlet in the control.

Replace the machine/motor control assembly if and only if verified that there are no issues with the pressure sensor system. Remove all the wire connections to the machine/motor control then remove the screw holding it to the console tray. Two plastic legs on the rear of the machine/motor control assembly are fitted into the console tray. Lift the front of the control assembly to pivot it out from the console tray. Reinstall the new machine/motor control assembly then secure it to the console tray and reconnect the wire harnesses.

NOTE: It is a good idea to take note of the wire harness connections before disconnecting them to prevent messing them up upon reconnection.
Labeling the connections makes reconnection more easily and trouble-free.

Hose broke off fitiing

If fitting on hose broke off, replace hose. If the fitting on pump body broke off it may be a special fitting with a siphon fitting for soap induction which means it may be a model specific part. Start with a model breakdown of parts for your model PW. Honda made motors for a few different PW models and the water pump casing will change with manufactures.

Water goes thru. have hydrulic oil to level. gun semas to stick on. NOT GETTING ANY PRESSURE AT NOSSEL.

Hydraulic oil?
Is this a pressure washer?
Pump should be half full of SAE20 or SAE30 non-detergent motor oil.
Engine should have 10W30 motor oil.

If you have a pressure washer ... and not water is coming out end of gun:
Take all hoses off machine.
Look at incoming water hose connection.
The should be a filter washer.
Clean or replace filter washer.
Hook up water and turn on water.
Water should come out other side of pump.
Turn on power washer and see if water coming out of pump is pressurized.
Now hook up pressure hose without gun.
Turn on pressure washer and see if water comes out of hose and is pressurized.
Finally, the gun may be bad.
We used to replace guns when they went bad.

Kenmore Elite top load washer will not begin wash cycle and keeps flashing "FL" and beeping twice every few seconds. Tried unplugging it to see if the electronics would re-boot. How can i correct this...

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error LF or FL means long fill, which flashes when the water level won’t change for a period of time after the valves are turned on or the water has disengaged the basket but control does not detect a water level change. TO resolve this issue check if the water supply is turned on and the hose screens are not plugged or kinked. If the water is not entering the machine then check the water valve, also check the pressure hose connection to the machine/motor control. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

I started working with the Karcher KB4040 pressure washer and all was well for 1-2mins, then it sputered a bit and all power died. All hoses were still attached properly, it hadn't blown a fuse in my house...

if the water is in anyway impeded, like kink in hose the unit turns off and goes into protection mode. That it it shuts down for a pewriod of time depending on how hot it may have got.
When its rested try it again ensuring you definitely have water flow.If the solenoid has failed it costs about !60-200 to fix as they replace all seals regardless

Sounds like the governor is stuck. My pressure washer speeds up when it has to pump. Don't know if yours uses vacuum to trigger governor or direct linkage. Good Luck.

Pressure washer has no pressure

Try and back flush the washer..Take spay nozzle off washer and back flush with hose...If any kind of sand or deposits get into the Pump it will hold pressure valve open not letting it build pressure.after back flushing hook back up washer and before you put spar nozzle back on or start washer turn water on and make sure all air is out of washer..hook spray nozzle back up and hold it open with washer still off.when you see that there is no more air coming out of washer start it and you should have pressure.Hope this helps you and have a great day!!
