Charge time depends on brand and model of your GPS. I'd say between two and six hours. For most GPS devices you can just keep the charger connected to the device and only remove it when you park the car in a place where theft is possible. When connected to the charger, the device should be running even if the battery is depleted.

If you connect to a cigarette lighter plug, the car does not need to be running, but the electricity must be switched on, i.e. key inside and turned into first position.

If you have a GPS mounted fixed into the console, there is no generic answer, in most cases, I guess, it is the same as with the cigarette lighter chargers.

Car wont start need help no power when when try to start

Will it start with a jump from another car or booster? You may just have a dead battery, or a bad alternator that isn't charging your battery. Usually it is one of the two. The battery doesn't hold a charge so it is junk. or the alternator/generator is bad and not charging the battery. Easy way to check alternator is, If the car will start with a jump? while it is running pull positive terminal off battery. If the car stays running it is the most likely the battery is not keeping a charge. On the other hand; if the car stops running when you pull the terminal off the alternator isn't providing enough electricity to charge the battery or run the car.

There is also the possibility nothing is wrong and you left the interior lights on all night.

2001 mercury sable will run but won't charge and no batttery indicator light in dash will not light

If it runs you have one of 2 issues. 1. The battery is bad and the alternator isn't able to keep it charged (you will have to jump start it every time the motor is shut off). 2. Your alternator is bad and the battery is running the car (when battery is drained car will stop running) which is my belief as the battery light only comes on when the alternator isnt charging. Have the charging system tested at your local AutoZone/Advanced Auto parts store they normally do it for free.

Will charging my new Nuvi in the car while the car is not running run down my car battery?

Any power that your car puts out while it is running uses battery power. However, the power use from charging your Nuvi will take a very long time to run out the car battery unless your car battery already has a weak charge.

Many cars will not charge items through the cigarette lighter/outlet when the car is not running. You might check, as it is possible that the Nuvi isn't charging at all when the car is off anyways.

The batery of my toyota highlander hybrid is too low; how can I conect other batery for to solve the problem?

You don't. If your battey is running low than run your car. A 2009 should not have a battery that is running low on charge. If the battery is not being charged by the charging system than bring the car back to the dealer from which you purchased it.

The battery is not charging properly, have to jump it and then when you try to restart later, it wont start. I talked to an auto person and was told it was the alternater, not sure what to do and dont have...

If the car runs until you turn it off and won't restart, the alternator is charging and the battery will not hold a charge. If it can't hold a charge, it will not be able to restart the car. If the car runs and then dies, the alternator isn't charging. The alternator may be wearing out and not be able to keep the car running and charge the battery. Chances are based upon your description of your problem (sounds like car runs until you shut it off and won't restart), it's a worn battery. If it's 5 or more years old, you probably need a new one. If you are not sure, test them. I think your battery is finished.

2000 Dodge Ram cargo van trouble starting and once started will not keep running tried jumping battery and no change what should we try next?

Sounds like the alternator is bad (not charging). If your battery is good/charged it should run until the battery is drained. If the battery is bad/not charged the car will die as soon as the cables are taken off as there is not enough juice to run the ignition system. If the alternator is good (but battery bad) the car would still run as the alternator makes power to run the car but becasue the battery is dead/drained there is no power to start the car (hense needing the jump). Have the alternator/charging system tested

Car won't stay running.

alternator does not hold a charge it simply charges the battery by unhooking the battery you are taking all voltage from computer and car will not run the proper way to test your alternator is use a multimeter and check voltage at battery while car is running if you have 13-14 volts it should be fine.
