Have you tried a small pair of needle nose pliers, or perhaps hemostats? if nothing else you can try and wedge it out with a butter knife or something thin like that. you could try 2, one from each side and try and wedge it out that way.

Memorycard lock

Also be sure you did not press the card in the wrong way around. Check the contacts on both the memory card and in the camera.
Check if the card is still working when placed in an external memory card reader, connected to the PC.

Look for the switch on the left side.
Before you put it in a camera it should be like the card on the left, the 64GB card. Switch up.

Screen blacks when i insert my memory card

Only insert and remove memory cards when the camera is shut down. Before you go on with this memory card, check in a PC with a cardreader if the memory card is ok. Onlty when you are sure it is working good, go on. Perhaps you have another memory card to test in your camera. Please switch it of and check if the battery (ies) having enough capacity.

How to unlock my memory card of Canon PowerShot A495 Digital Camera

Take your memory card out of the camera and switch the position of the "lock" tab. One position is for "locked" (i.e., "Write Protected") and the other position will allow the card to be written to (unlocked). Some cameras have image protection built into the on-camera software and you may need to configure this there.

Canon Powershot A495 Wont power on using the ON/OFF button

The problem is short on playback button due to humidity (see differents between the buttons on foto no.1), wich can be removed mechanically using a pin and making two holes(inlet/outlet) at the side of the button where no wiring running(!) and with a hypo carefully shooting air beetween the foils. It is useful to lift up little bit the spring button from the bottom foil to remove the short. A hair dryer can be also helpful to dry out the space between the foils. Please check the fotos and link too.
The camera will not power on by battery insertion when short is over. To protect buttons against repeted defects I used an adhesive tape to close the openings on the top of the buttons.

The camera power is ok, the lens is ok too, but it cannot detect or sense the presence of the memory card even if it is there properly inserted already. the memory has been scanned already with antivirus,...

You may need to contact Canon directly with this problem:

From my experience, there is probably a problem with the memory card. Is it brand new? The correct type for that camera? You seem to know what you are doing so that is why I am referring you to Canon! Hope this helps!

I have a canon powershort A495 camera now it shows "memory card is locked" let me know how it can be cure?

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

When i turn it on Memory card error comes up, i have changed cards, both cards worked fine before, cannot format card using camera as FORMAT is greyed out in menu and just skips over it.maybe needs reload...

Please have the memory cards checked on with another PC and if detected have the cards formatted. If so check your PC for any virus in the OS.
If there is no detection of the memory card then it is possible that the card detection slot reader is not contacting or a possible software error in the camera.

Canon PowerShot A495 the memory card is locked

Good day,

This tip will explain how to remove the write protect from your SD Card.

This is a easy fix and won't take a minute.

First remove your SD Card from your device. You will see on the side of the SD Card that there is a small switch. If your SD Card complains about being write protected simply put the switch in the opposite position. Some of the SD Cards even have the word LOCK on near the switch indicating the direction the switch must be to LOCK the card.

Once the switch is changed you can put the SD Card back into your device and the problem of write protection would be solved.

Please feel free to let me know if this tip was able to help you!

Just purchased new Cannon A495 camera installed 2GB memory card turned on camera display reads"memory card error" turned off removed and reinstalled batteries turned on camera problem still exists

Hello Art, Hi, The Canon brand is known world wide, but if the camera you just got is new and defective, why not return it to the dealer, have them try and operate your camera, if its defective they should replace it. Besides I don't advice gadgets with warranty, let the dealer repair it for you.
