At this point you can only trust Fuji that they are correct in what they are saying in that the camera is fine which leaves only the power source you are using. I'm a bit confused as to what you have written. You said you put Duracell in it and left it to charge. To my knowledge and I may be reading this incorrectly it appears to me you are installing batteries in the camera and possibly hooking up the USB download cable expecting the camera to charge the batteries. The camera has no charging capabilities and rechargeable batteries need to be charged in a separate device made specifically for this function. I also know that some chargers come with a clear plastic guard over the + (positive) terminals and if you do not remove this plastic part there is no way the batteries can be charges. The charging lights come on and will remain on but no charge will enter the batteries. Maybe a quick test would be if you have a flashlight that takes AA batteries you place them in there and turn the flashlight on. Once you have confirmed that there is battery power then insert the batteries into the camera make sure they are in the correct placement (orientation)
Here is a picture of the correct battery placement.

This diagram is found on page 13 of your owners manual

Another diagram I'm including is what the camera will show as the battery state of charge.
This is found on page 15

I sincerely hope this helps

Well you mentioned that it worked fine yesterday with the battery out of the box. That should tell you that the camera and the battery are both fine. The issue is likely the charger itself. Try recharging it again, and double check that you inserted the batteries correctly, and that any switches (such as for 2 or 4 battery charge) are set in the correct position on the charger. If this doesn't work, take the charger back to the store for exchange/refund as defective.

Digital cameras are famously demanding on batteries, and the early Fuji ones were notorious. You must use good alkaline batteries or better, a set of high capacity NiMH rechargeables. Zinc or "long life" batteries just aren't up to the task, and they can leak and cause corrosion.

NiMH batteries with a capacity of 2700mAH are available, and these will last longer, per charge, than name brand alkalines, as well as being rechargeable. You can buy these with a charger fairly cheaply now (though they obviously cost more than disposables). You will probably want two sets, one to be on charge while you use the other.

My fuji digital camera will not charge when I put it on the charging base.

Usually that just means your battery needs repplacement. Get a new one put it on the charger overnight and the camera should be back to normal.

This is a CCD sensor ( see pic below from Canon camera with same pixalage and specs ) problem : outputting too much noise or nothing at all so the sensor must be replaced ( not a big job but ha sto be done by someone with experience and the right parts ). Fuji will repair free of charge , if I am not mistaken, so you need to contact your Fuji agent .b16210b.jpg

I just today sent my camera to Fuji to have the same thing repaired. I've read that the on-off switch tends to fail on this camera.Mine is just a few months past warranty, of course!
this is my 3rd Fuji and 1st problem though.
Good Luck.
