Question about Stairmaster 4600 Cl Cordless Freeclimber

1 Answer

My Stairmaster 4600CL is stuck on the highest resistance, level one. If I press the arrow increase button, while the console will say its in a higher level, the resistance remains at level one. I tried replacing the alternator brush and this didn't work? Any ideas what might?

Call the manufacture they should be able to direct you the right people that can help you. Also ask if they have a manual. One other thing is to try looking up repairs for your machine on the internet

What has happened is the control panel is bad and you need to replace it.

Good Luck

It is not the lower board it is the control board that needs to be replaced. The reason why I said that is because it has happened to me on my Stairmaster 3 years ago.

If you replaced the PCB and the alternator tests good, then the only possible components that could cause this issue would be, either wiring or the internal power board. The following link will take you to the internal power board for this unit.

I just bought a stairmaster 7000pt with a broken console screen. I replaced all the broken parts but it's still not working. Any ideas?

Display reads CONFIG RQRD or NTM CONFIG RQD on Stairmaster Equipment Probable Cause The message CONFIG RQRD or NTM CONFIG RQD appears when the console needs to be configured for the machine type it is installed. This message is common when the console has been replaced or if the settings have been changed. Message is commonly seen on various Stairmaster equipment such as bike models 3000CE, 3300CE, 3400CE, 3600RC, 3800RC and 3900RC; stepper models 4400PT, 4600PT, 4400CL, 4600CL and SC916; stepmill models 7000PT and SM916; elliptical model ClubStride 5100.
Corrective Action
  • Make sure the unit is in an "idle" state. "Idle" state means the console is not displaying an error or any message that requires data input. The display should basically be freshly powered up, scrolling the EKG or welcome message
  • Configure the console for the proper machine type by pressing Level UP, 80, ENTER
  • Using the Level UP or Level DOWN keys, scroll through to the proper machine type (Bike, Elliptical, Stairclimber or Stepmill)
  • Once the proper machine type is shown on the display select the machine type by pressing ENTER
  • This completes the steps necessary when your Stairmaster display reads CONFIG RQRD or NTM CONFIG RQD

When I stop stepping, the display shuts off and then restarts instead of pausing and letting me resume the workout where I left off. The battery is old, but it is still measuring 6.0V. Could the battery be...

Pull the lower covers off.
Disconnect the white and brown wires from the alternator.
Begin stepping.
When you stop stepping see if the display remains on instead of shutting off.
If it stays on then it is probably the lower control board.
National Gym suppliers have them for about $65.00 if you return the old board.
This is how I fixed the same problem on my 4600CL.
Also...an additional problem I had that changing the board solved was the resistance level was stuck at highest(hardest) level. After changing board was able to change levels in addition to the console remaining on when stopping.

The screen says configuration required, i had this problem twice before but forgot the code. i only remember up arrow 80. Does anybody know this code?

I provoked that on my machine by turning on "clinical mode". It was OK after turning it off again: ^, 3, enter, then select your way to clinical mode, enter, turn it off, enter.
