If you've wiped the phone and restored it as new it could be down to a hardware issue within the phone, if you've had the phone less than a year then you should still be within your hardware warranty, id give apple a ring they'll replace / repair phone for you if your still in hardware

If the issue persists after a restart, there may be an issue with motherboard or camera. Apple will help you with this because it is so new. However if you dropped it in water (etc.) and if apple doesn't replace it for you, You can get the digitizer at iPhone Repair and there is a guide that shows you how to put in the part at iPhone 4 Repair Guide.

iTunes enables you to restore iPhone to factory settings. Before you start restoring iPhone to factory settings, please note that you need to install the latest version of iTunes on your PC or MAC. Then go to Settings > iCloud to turn off Find My iPhone. Now, you can factory reset your iPhone with iTunes as follows.

1. Plug iPhone into the computer with the USB cable. The iTunes on your computer will automatically launch. If not, double-click the icon to start it.
2. Click the name of your iPhone at the upper right corner of iTunes, and then the information of your iPhone will be shown. Click the "Restore iPhone" button in the window to start.
3. iTunes will ask whether you want to back up iPhone before restoring. You'd better choose "Yes" for the reset will erase the contents in your iPhone. Then iTunes will start restoring your iPhone to factory settings.

Shutter remains closed on apple iphone 3GS

1. Sync phone with iTunes to back up your data. 2. Choose Restore option from iTunes window (first screen when you plug the phone into iTunes) 3. Before you restore from backup, test the camera again. If it works, then it was a software related issue. If it doesn't, the camera module is not working and needs to be replaced. 4. Restore from backup, or take the phone in for repair if the shutter is still not opening.

Hai , iam using iphone 4 ios 4.2.1 with jailbreak , recently 2 weeks before my camera getting problem, while i try tio open the camm app shutter was not opened,, so plz tell me how to reslove

you should restore your iphone by pluging it into itunes, BACKING IT UP, then restoring it. once restored. you can either leave it without the jailbreak. or you can re-jailbreak it using greenpois0n. other wise just restore it and if the camera app does not work still, show it to an apple store and make sure the jailbreak is not on it!
Good Luck!

Camera shutter wont open iphone 3g

If the camera shutter won't open in the Camera app, it could be a hardware or software issue.
Turning the iPhone off then back on should resolve the issue. If not, a Restore in iTunes would help.
If neither of these help, it could be the camera's connection inside of the iPhone. You could set up a Genius Bar appointment at your local Apple Store.

IPhone camera doesn't work. Screen goes black. Doesn't save pictures.

That sounds like a software problem not saving pictures but does the shutter open up at all? Did the camera ever work or is it only recent that the problems are happening? I would suggest that you back up your phone then restore it back to its factory settings, after that sync it as a new iphone as any past bugs would just be reinstalled into it and cause the same problems. The latest software would then be installed in the iphone at the same time. Try not to download any apps for a day or so and see if that makes any difference.

I started camera iPhone but Lens is not open

Try backing up your phone first in computer. On the main screen on itunes where you make the changes and updates to your iphone click the "Restore back to factory settings". This will erase everything from your phone fixing any software problems the camera might be having. When the phone starts to sync it will ask do you want to restore from previous back ups or as a new iphone, choose as a new iphone so the previous bugs wont be installed. If that is not successful it would probably be a hardware problem so you could call the Apple Support number which you can find on the Apple support page and the problem should be covered under warranty if it is under a year old.

I cant get my iphone 4 camera to work....help!

Try backing up your phone in itunes so you wont loose all your data then restore back to factory settings. This will delete everything from the phone and fix any software bugs that might be in the phone. When synching the phone you will be asked do you want to set up as new iphone or back up from previous saved backups. Choose "Set up as a new iPhone". If you select from previous backups it will just put the software bugs back into phone. Try opening and using camera. If there is still no success it could be a hardware issue and call Apple Support, if it is covered under warranty there will be no problem having them pick it up and fixing it or bring it to a local Apple store if there is one nearby.

Camera lens wont open on iphone 4

Hi Tim,
Are you talking about the built-in Camera app? The camera (hardware) doesn't really have a shutter.

Please try using some other Camera app from the AppStore or try restoring to the latest firmware.

Let me know how it goes.

Please rate this solution if it helps you.

I want to know the code for Restore Factory settings for my 3G iPhone

You can either go to settings -> general -> scroll to the bottom "set to default"
Here you can choose what to reset.

OR you can restore the firmware of the device (this will erase all data on it, music, videos, pictures, bookmarks, wifi-keys...)

To set your iPhone 3G back to factory settings, just connect it to itunes and wait for the device to appear. Click on the iphone and you should see the screen that tells you how much more space you have left etc.
In the middle of that screen you have the options to "search for updates" and for "restore" .
Click on restore and wait. (If you have never restored or updated your iPhone, itunes will download the most recent firmware from the internet, this may take a couple of minutes)

Once its done, the iphone will restart and reconnect to itunes.
Itunes will ask you if you want to restore (if you have any backups) or treat it as a new phone.

Select treat as a new phone and give it a new name. Now everything is back to factory settings and all media, settings and accounts are deleted.
