Question about Panasonic DVD & Blu-Ray Players

1 Answer

I was transferring a vhs tape onto dvd and an error message came up stating that the dvd I was using was dirty or stratched (it was brand new!) so i tried another disk and got that it was not suitable for recording, then tried another and got error message u61 or 62 so then tried yet another disk, this time a re-writable one and got error u88. I removed this disk and found that the unit has frozen and that it still thinks there is a disk in the drive (the drive is empty) and the light that shows if this is a disk in the unit remains lit even thou there is no disk inside! I have tried to play various other disks including one I have recorded on the unit and tv series I have purchased and now the unit will not read any of these disks. if you can help I will be very grateful, thanks.

Plz try by using a dvd lens cleaner, if the problem is not solved then try by changing the dvd data cable, if the problem is not solved, try by reinstalling the burning software if every thing fails then you have to buy a new dvd rom

Why won't the Sony controls let me click onto finalize using a Sony TV w/recoder to transfer VHS to DVD?

Is the VHS tape you are trying to record a commercial VHS tape (movie)? If so, it may have copy protection on it. The recorder is probably programmed to prevent you from making and using DVDs of commercial copy-protected VHS tapes.

How can I record home VHS videos to a DVD on my Samsung DVD-VR320 DVD Recorder/VCR?

BE CERTAIN OF THE KIND OF DVD DISKS IT SUPPORTS. My experience is that the kind of discs while you would think would not make a difference actually do make a big difference depending on the equipment you are using. I just transferred 15 vhs tapes to DVD and realized that the machine only took a few formats luckily it was the one I was using, but not all formats may be compatible. There is a difference between DVD+R and DVD-R as an example.

I have a Panasonic DMR-ES30V. I've only ever recorded from what I'm watching on the TV to a DVD. I now have a VHS tape that I'd like to record to DVD. I tried starting the dvd to record...

Most Combo Recorders (VHS and DVD) will prevent you from
recording a Copyrighted VHS tape program onto DVD.
Try recording a TV program onto your VHS tape, then
transfer it to your DVD and see if your new DVD recording
will work or not.

While playing a vhs tape, I only get sound, no picture. No problem with a dvd.

You may have a dirty video head, try a wet or dry cleaning tape (I recommend the dry tape) the other option is to use a brand new store bought tape T120, set vcr to sp "2hrs" and let it play the full time.

Toshiba d-vr600 record without viewing the whole tape

Unless both units has stated high speed transfer capabilities I think you have to do them one at a time and watch the entire video.
There are some units that are one unit for vhs to dvd. Panasonic is known to have some units but you are going to probably have to hunt for one. It will clearly state that it transferred compressed or highspeed.

Unable to "dub" my 8mm tapes onto DVD-R using my Sylvania DV90VE

From comments posted on the Internet by other Sylvania users with a similar problem, I  learned that I had to use a 4X DVD-R (the ones I had been trying to record on were 16X). And I found that Office Depot sells the sometimes hard-to-find 4X format, so that's where I'm headed right after lunch.  Thanks.

My Apple computer will not play the DVD's that I transferred from VHS. Why?

Doubtful. If the drive won't read them, it may just be the brand on disk that is preventing it. Changing software settings won't improve anything if the drive in the computer can't read the disk.

Recording from vhs to dvd

Direct copy VCR to DVD:
- Insert VHS tape you want to copy
- Insert a recordable DVD disc
- Press DVD copy button on front panel or remote control (to DVD).
- To stop recording press the stop button.

IMPORTANT: If attempting to copy copyrighted material the Samsung DVD-VR320 will detect the encoding and will not allow the copy to be made.
