Question about GPS
Please provide brand and model name of your GPS device, without you will receive generic advice only.
Some devices, e.g. by Tomtom, do not really switch off when you think they do, they go to stand-by mode, requiring less power but still enough to drain the battery. The upside is, when you need the device for driving, the start-up is considerably more swift than on a cold reboot.
Instructions on how to really switch off the device depends on brand and model. Some Tomtom devices switch off by pressing and holding the on/off switch until you hear the Tomtom drum sound (~15 seconds). They will show a diagnostic screen first and by another short tap on the on / off switch shuts down the device completely. You will know you've done it right if on next switch on you have a progress bar with a hard drive icon displayed.
