Question about SanDisk Sansa e250 MP3 Player

Power comes on

I turn the power button on but it only shows the screen with sand disc on i cant get in two the main menu

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

When i turn on my sansa e260 and show the sandisk logo, it restart showing the logo over and over without going to the main menu, how do i fix it ?

You need to reset your sansa for it to be in order again.

Learn how to reset the your various San Disk models;

Resetting a Sansa Fuze+, Clip+, c200, e200, or e200R player:

1. Press and hold the Power/Menu button for approximately 20 seconds.
2. Release the Power/Menu button.
3. Press the Power/Menu button again to turn on the player.


Resetting a Sansa View, Fuze, or Clip player:

1. Slide and hold the Power switch up for approximately 20 seconds.
2. Release the Power switch.
3. To turn the player on, slide the Power switch up then release instantly.

Resetting a Sansa Express player:

NOTE: The device can be either ON of OFF.

1. Press-and-hold the Volume Up (+) and Select buttons simultaneously for approximately 20 seconds.
2. Release the buttons.

The mp3 will not play


Not really enough info but to turn it on, hold down the pause/play button until you see a screen coming on. After the main screen loads, whatever is selected from the menu (music, video, ebook...) will play when you hit the M button.
To scroll up and down the main menu, use the right and left arrow buttons.

Try doing this: Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps you!

'disc mode'displayed in window, large tick and o.k to disconnect. machine will not respond.


Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step. Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.

My ipod cant download musis because it come up in windows media


You will need to restore the iPod. Since it is not showing up in iTunes, you will need to put the iPod into disc mode before connecting it to your computer. Below I have posted a step by step on putting an ipod into disc mode as well as restoring it. (Just in case you need the information) Before placing the iPod into disk mode, you should verify that it is charged. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 6 seconds until the Apple logo appears. When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.
Connect the iPod to your computer; the screen on the iPod will change and say "Do not disconnect" If you are having difficulty putting the iPod model into disk mode, set it on a flat surface. Make sure that the finger pressing the Select button is not touching the Click Wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Play/Pause button toward the outside of the Click Wheel and not near the center.
If you are still unable to put your iPod with a Click Wheel into Disk Mode, use one finger from one hand to press the Select button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Play/Pause button.

Once it is in disc mode and connected to your computer, open iTunes.
After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel and you will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows.

Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download the latest iPod Software.

The 4 possible restore options are: Restore Option

1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod. Restore Option

2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available. Restore Option

3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software available. Restore Option

4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software available.

If you are using a Mac, a message will appear prompting you to enter an administrator’s name and password.

A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started.

When this stage is completed, iTunes will present one of two messages on screen with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Restore Instruction 1: Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).


Restore Instruction 2: Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).

During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage.

Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.

After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.

After everything is complete, eject the iPod and disconnect it. Then without putting it into disc mode reconnect it to see if it will load normally in itunes.
If you still cannot use the iPod normally after these trouble shooting steps, you most likely have a hardware issue and will need to either get it serviced or replaced. I do hope that is not the case though. Please let me know if you find this article helpful towards your issue. :) Good luck

Sansa 260 Won't Let Me Navigate Back to Main Menu


The power button is also the Menu button - click and release once while the player is on, and see if it gets you back to the main menu. Or press the left arrow key and see if it will get you back to hte previous menu.

STEP 1 – Reset the device
  1. Press the Power button and hold it for approximately 10 seconds.
  2. Release the Power button once the device is powered down.
  3. Turn the device back on.
STEP 2 – Download and Install the Sansa Firmware Updater

You should be able to adjust the brightness by going to Main Menu -> System -> Display Settings
also see what the contrast is
