Question about Acer Aspire One D255-2670

When I turn it on, I get a black screen which says: Windows could not start because of the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM You can attempt to repail this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM. Select r at the first screen to start repair. Please help me resolve this problem, thank you!

    There is no cd in the box and my Acer Aspire One D255-2331 netbook doesn't have a cd/dvd drive built into it.

    When I press 'r' as it tells me to do so, i get a screen that shows the acer logo and below it on the left side of the sceen it says: insyde h20 bios Press f2 to enter Setup

Get your windows restore cd (it's probably in your box) and boot to it. You may need to enter the boot selection menu and select "Boot from CD-ROM drive". It should then prompt you to press any key to boot from the cd, which you should do. Just follow the prompts, wait for the disc to load, and then press "r" for recovery when you are prompted.

The system folder does not delete itself, so run a virus scan as soon as you restore your computer.

To repair missing or corrupted system file/s, boot up with the Windows installation CD then - Press R to repair when instructed. Press 1 or Enter to repair the C:\Windows folder. Then type chkdsk /r and then press Enter. The repair process will take quite a long time.

Well this means one of important files needed to start Windows is corrupted (it's a registry file).
I'd recommend repairing Windows installation. If you have Windows XP and also the Original Windows CD follow: this guide.

Boot to the WIndows XP CD (Press spacebar when prompted to press any key) at first prompt in setup, press R to enter recover console.
At the C:\Windows\System32\> prompt type bootcfg /rebuild then press enter

sound like your boot sector is corrupt. if the notebook came with disk put the first disk in then start the notebook and follow the instructions on the screen.

Aspire 5610 file is missing or corrupt


The error message means you use the Windows installation CD to repair Windows by booting up with the Windows CD and select r at the first screen to start repair.

The error: Window could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt;
WINDOWS\SYSEM32\config\system

You can attempt to repair this file by loading the Win CD into your cdrom drive. Start the PC & press the F5 key every 2 seconds & windows boot menue will load.
Choose the cdrom drive that has the Windows CD in.

Select "r" at the first screen to start repair.
Once back in windows run a full system virus scan.
