Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

On my GE Profile side by side, the refrigerator door does not close all the way.....I have to give it a small push to make sure it is closed. Also, when the door opens it continues to swing open and hits the wall. It seems to me that the door is probably not put on correctly. i have no problem with the freezer door and I noticed that there is a mechanism to prevent the door from opening all the way. Any suggestions?

You can adjust the hinges on the top of unit... make sure with the door closed you have the same distance all the way down between the two doors... if that is good there is a hinge cam that is plastic and probley the culprit here.... lastly make sure the door seal has no rips, tears or coming apart... you can take a hair dryer and reshape these if this is a older unit just be careful doesnt take alot and if heated to long will melt the door seal quickly......

Ge profile artica refrigerator door will not close

clip on bottom of hinge is worn or broken had mine replaced. magnetic seals are not strong enough to hold the door closed on their own. Original problem was the magnets were too strong so the clip on the bottom hinge was added.

GE French door fridge problem. When you close one door the other door pops open alittle most of the time. Is this normal on french door fridges?

Hello, In a word, Yes. It is totally normal, when you close a door it pushes air into the unit and depending on how it is closed the other door will "pop" open slightly from the "push" of air. Thanks for coming to fixya. macmarkus :)

GE Profile freezer door problem

I wil let you know of things you can do to solve this.
This happens because the refrigerators of today are air tight, the fresh food door pushes the air into the cabinet as it closes and the air has no place to go but up the air vent into the freezer and "pops" open the freezer door. First thing is make sure the freezer door is capable of closing properly and is not rubbing or catching anywhere. I sometimes add a washer or 2 to the center hinge under the freezer door so it doesn't rub anything. Put a little Vaseline ( or food grade silicone lubricant ) on the hinge side of the seal. I then raise the front of the refrigerator so that the front of the refrigerator is a little higher than the back of the refrigerator. Never level a fridge with a level. Once you have the door closing properly and front slightly higher than the back...let the fresh food door close from 90 degrees on it's own and the freezer door may "pop" open a little but will close again on it's own...and stay closed once all is set up properly. We see this more often now and have no trouble with the door staying open again after setting up the refrigerator properly.

Hope this helps, Thanks Sea Breeze

Ge armoire style condensation on freezer door

the condensation is due to a small amount of cold freezer air getting past the gasket. Warm the entire gasket up for a few minutes with a hair dryer and then close the door and keep it closed for 30 minutes. That will reshape your gasket and solve your problem.

Freezer door wont seal and stay closed

Your pushing air from the fridge part over to the freezer door when you clos it,the only thing i can suggest is make sure that the seal (which is magnetic) is clean and not falling apart, inspect it all around the door, and when closing the door i would close it gently.

Hope this helped.Let me know by rating me or

You need to replaced the door cam assembly on the bottom of the refrigerator side. It is probably cracked and hanging up.
