I agree with replacing the brushes, and don't use it until you do, so no damage is done to the motor. If it is smoking there is some overheating. Best regards and good luck.

I need to change out a motor on a Dw364. the cover will not come off.I have it all apart.

Careful study of the exploded parts diagram may help you find the secret to opening the cover. Usually (I've "been there" with other motors) it is some item blocking, such as the brush holders, a C ring, the fan... something is blocking disassembly. I hope this helps get you on the trail. If you don't have the diagram, a copy is at:

How to raise and lower saw blade

You raise and lower the table plate, NOT the blade. There is a knob to lossen and tighen the tension on the table plate and you can adjust the blade height by lowering the plate and vice versa.

I have just brought a new dewalt dc390 cordless circular saw and it seems that the motor is running backwards?

It is possible that the motor is running backward but... first see the manual here:
http://www.plumbersurplus.com/pdf/08364.pdf Make sure the blade is installed as pictured in figure 4 page 11 of the manual.
After seeing the manual..... make sure the battery is charged correctly. The flat side of the battery should be toward the back of the charger when charging. If somehow the battery was inserted backward in the charger it is possible the battery was reverse charged during the intital charge. If you suspect this has happened.... insert the battery in the saw and run the saw until the battery is DEAD. Then insert it properly in the charger and leave it there for 9 hours so the charger will do the automatic tune up equalization of the battery.

If none of the above correct the problem, someone connected the internal battery power wiring incorrectly during FACTORY assembly. I would take it back to the retailer first... before processing a warranty claim.

Dw364 looks like an arc welder where the brushes are , blows breakers and electric brake doesn't work DEWALT WILL NOT ASSIST

could be a couple problems, first unplug tool and remove brushes, I would assume they are burnt or short, next while turning blade by hand look at the commutator to see if there are raised bars or extreme discoloring, if so the armature needs replaced. I would start with these 2, after installing new brushes you probably have to clean the commutator. Let me know if you need more assistance.

The motor is running slower and the engine begins to smoke as if it is burning up. A suggestion was to replace the brushes.

It sounds like some oil has gotten onto the armature of the motor where the brushes are. That will cause the symptoms of what is happening.
Get some Electric Motor and Brake Parts Cleaner at an auto supply house. Note: It is not flammable.
If you cannot find it. Get the Regular Brake parts cleaner.
FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW.
1 Allow the saw to cool to room temperature.

2 MAKE SURE IT IS UNPLUGGED

3 Spray the cleaner it into the vent holes
4 Carefully remove the brush caps (Small Black things that look like buttons) There are two of them.
5 Spray inside where the brushes are.
6 Let it dry out for a day.
7 Re-assemble
8 Plug it in and see how it works.

If it is still running roughly after you do the above steps. Get it serviced. There is damage to the armature and brushes.

Hope this helps.
Best, Mark

DW705 Miter saw Spark in motor Compartment

Yes spark in motor compartment is normal. You only need to worry if you see a lot of sparks flying out of the motor compartment! Most power tools will spark inside the motor compartment (particularly if carbon brushes are used).

Bevel and miter could be off... Consult your manual for how to adjust these correctly, but usually the bevel has a 0-degree setting screw or adjustment, and the miter adjustment on the saw is usually done by altering the fence position... Again check your manual for specifics on your saw.
