Hello, I have a problem switching on my PC. It seems that the ON button doesn't work anymore when I push it, and I was wondering if there is a way to switch it on in a different way or to solve the problem using a sort of autorepair functionality.
There is common problem with a cold solder joint on one of the components with this board. When the button is depressed, it breaks the contact, if you can reflow the solder joint it will work fine. Otherwise you can buy a new board on ebay adr replace it. To reflow the solder joint you can either heat it with a heat ggun, or a small soldering iron.

Re: Problem with the ON/OFF button
The power button is the only way to turn it on. Remove the plastic strip that contains the power button, do this by lifting up at one end, it will then pull up and off. Then you'll see the power button on the board, try pressing this button. If it starts normally, then the button on the plastic strip isn't making a good contact with the button on the board, replace the strip. If it still doesn't turn on, then power button on the board is faulty and will need to be replaced. You can find the plastic strip on Ebay for a decent price. The power switch on the board is harder to find. Most sellers on Ebay leave this attached to the motherboard when they sell a parts machine, you're best bet is a shop that deals with used or refurbished laptops.

if everyting is frozen and you cannot do anything with your computer, you can wait a couple minutes to see if it is only working on something in the background that is taking up all its resources... if it does not start responding by itself, and you do not want to wait anymore... push the PC's start button that you use to turn your computer on (not the windows start button) for 8 seconds and it should turn off. NOTE: any changes to data that was open and and not saved will be lost.
check to see if the wire has came loose leading to the seat belt disconnect button you push when releasing the seat belt if connected. then will have to replace that part of your seat belt the sensor or switch in buckle may have broke
By unplugging your machine you probably engaged the power failure safety device. You need to clear your programs by pushing the "stop" button until it beeps or the readout changes, (this usually only takes about 5-8 seconds. Then push program, choose the program you originally wanted and push "start". Please let m know if this works for you.
Hello, my W6761 becomes the same. When it happens, you can clear the problem by "soft ware reset". Following is the procedure:
1. Power it on
2. Push Start/Stop buttom 5 times
3. Push "Enter", ">", "<", "Menu" buttons (from right to left)
4. Again, push "Enter", ">", "<", "Menu" buttons
5. Wait for 30 seconds that the above soft ware cycle resets the internal status
6. Toggle the power switch
7. You need to execute above "soft ware reset" within 15 seconds
Start washing and check to see if above reset the problem.
If it does not begin to work, repeat above "soft ware reset" cycle until it begins to work.
My W6761 once needed to repeat above cycle 7 times to solve the problem.
W6761 seems to be weak at high ambient temperature.
Recommend replacing the switch with a new one. Usually the button is just a cover and mounted on the Chassis face. The real switch is behind the plastic button. You'd probably have to remove the front panel or go inside the Chassis to get at the switch. The switch will have a couple of wires that connect to the mother board "Start" pins. The wires can be unplugged from there.
