Question about NetGear WNDR3300 - RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Router

1 Answer

I just got a Netgear Wndr3400. Both my husband and I have laptops. He can see both the 2.4g and the 5g connections on his computer, but I can only find the 2.4g on mine. My computer is the one we did the set up on and is actually the newer computer. What's up?

Even if it's newer verify the manual for specefications to see if your wireless card supports 802.11(N)

if it does than you should try updating your driver

cheers!

Make sure all the computers wired and wireless are in the same workgroup.
To share files across all the computers and laptops on your network then -
All the computer and laptop in this network group must have their hard drive or folder/s set to SHARED (a hand symbol will be placed on these folders that are shared).
If there isn't a secutity problem then these folders and easy of file sharing then do not setup users and passwords on these folders.

You do not need a netgear driver to connect to these kinds of devices, what you probably need is a network driver for your computer.

I have a netgear wndr3400. I have 2 laptops, 1 can connect but the other can't. It says it is connected but to the wireless router but can't connect to the internet. Why can't it connect?

The router has probably provided too many IP address and assigned one out of your range.
  1. Click start button
  2. Type cmd, right click and run as administrator
  3. Type the words IPCONFIG /RELEASE
  4. Let it run until you are able to type again and type IPCONFIG /RENEW
  5. Then when it has renewed flush your DNS cache by typing IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS
If that doesn't work, I would log into the router. www.routerologin.net and under settings release your IP address or cycle your modem and then your router.

The Host (wired) computer is running windows 7. The wireless computers, using Vista, cannot access host.

The NetGear WNDR3400 N600 Wireless Dual takes security very serius and therefore u should read the manual very carefully, giving attention to the pages about the different forms of connections to the router with the different forms of security.
U can access the router as it is described in the amnual, or if not U have to reset and re-initialize all connections with evtually new security settings.
U know, even a router is only a simple com-device, which sometimes hangs and needs to be re-setted.

Good luck
