Have double image can't get line convergence to work don't have a password

On Rear Projection TVs there is a thing called "convergence" in which the color bands are lined up so that they can mix to make the colors that we see on the screen. When a TV of this type is moved or bumped around, or even near a source of electrical interference it can throw this out of alignment. Many TVs have options in their menus to set convergence.

I believe it is under Menu > Picture > Convergence I'm having trouble finding the exact process used for this, but it will be noted in your user guide as well.
If this does not resolve the issue you may need to purchase a convergence repair kit which requires a considerable amount of electrical knowledge and can take several hours to repair.

You have a convergence problem, you will need to change the convergence IC's STK392-110, there is also 12 6.8 1w resistors that need to be changed, there is also 2 fusilbe resistors that may be open. You can probably Google the IC's as a kit and find them all in one kit.
You can fix this yourself and save about $300-$400 in repair bills.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.

this is a lost of convegence power. first check to see if you have the convergence option in setup menu. if you do not then i suggest you read the fl231 problem in the tips and trick section. otherwise there a good chance u would have to replace convergence power supply board

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.



You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.


Solution


You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick email and they will put one together for you. Their kits includes photo instruction guides, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

You will have to replace both the convergence IC's on your TV..

i went to converge my mitsubishi ws 73903 and the blue line wont go down to match the other ones

Repair involves some dis-assembly...replace convergence IC's
and inspect current limiting resistors for over-heat damage...
part # STK392-110 sub to upgrade STK394-160 Hitachi part # CZ 01341....you will need two....good solder technique required.
