It's CR2023. You can get them from the fake candles, or small remote controls.

Just pop the old one out with a flat head screwdriver and put the new one in. Polarity is printed on the plastic holder, or on the circuit board.

If it is not keeping time then you need to replace the computers clock battery. The battery is a cr2032 battery usually.
follow the below link for instructions on how to do that.

Battery to change as do not keep the time date.

Hi:
Your compaq mini tower has a coin type battery that is mounted to the motherboard that keeps the time and date. It usually is a cr2032 , but you need to take the side cover off of your tower, with the tower unplugged, and locate the battery. take note of how it is installed. It is a 3 volt lithium battery that you can buy at most stores for about $2-3 and is easy to swap out.
Give it a try, and your computer will remember after you reset everything!

Need instructions to take laptop apart to replace bios battery, my laptop is losing time and i think it needs replaced. Can someone tell me how to locate the battery?

Here is the service manual for your laptop courtesy of HP:

http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00622160/c00622160.pdf

Look in section 6.3 for dissasemly instructions on how to take apart the laptop.

Then go to page 6-51 of the service manual and it shows you a picture of the BIOS Battery as it looks to be in the top cover.
