My danby wine cooler does not get cold enough

Cool enough? You know most wine and beer only like it about 50 degrees and not any cooler. If it up at 55 and you have set it lower then the room is probably warmer then it can handle to cool them. I have some in the garage but in July and August the struggle to stay any cooler then 55 but then they are not expensive units either. Danby is cheap brand too. Nothing they make is that great.

sounds like the thermostat. can you bypass it (ie connect the two wires together) and make it run all the time? If so, replace the thermostat

Krups b100 does not get cold enough. How do i fix this

Maybe the beer inside is cold enough to drink, but the green led that indicates it's ok, doesn't light on. So the thermostat may be not operating well or the ambient temperature is too hot. My beertender B100 is operating without turning compressor off. The compressor never stops operating... even when external temperature is under 26 C... but the beer temperature is ok.

When the tempretures get very hot my fridge won't keep things very cold. It was purchased new and put in our pool house. With the thermostat set to the coldest position it will only cool to around...

First of all make sure you check there points:

1. Keep at least 12 inch distance between wall and backside of refrigerator so that there is enough ventilation for the compressor heat exchanger.
2. There are some gaps between items kept in refrigerator and it is not stuffed with too many things. Its something same as AC fails to cool in a crowded room, if you overload the refrigerator, it will fail to cool.
3. Frequency of opening of door. If door is open quite often then it will cool less. It happens in summers that people open it more often for cold water or ice etc.

If above all fails then keep a small table fan behind the refrigerator blowing air directly on the heat exchanger and if this also fails then get it checked by technician for:

1. Low gas
2. Compressor Fitness

We have a small Daewoo fridge my husband uses in the garage for his beer and it is not getting cold enough It is about 135 litres and even on maximum the freezer part has no ice in it

Small fridge not cold enough causes

(1.) Restriction in the freon dryer / capilary tube
(2.) Loss of freon / coolant due to pin hole type leak

This also does not rule out the compressor as a suspect. Do you know if the compressor stays running for an extended time? If not there can be a problem with the (3) PTC relay, (4) the thermal overload or the (5)run capacitor.

If the compressor is running for an extended time but just not reaching the correct temp and then automatically cycling off (6) the temp control can also be the problem.

And finally the last possible cause can be a (7) dragging compressor rotor i.e. not running full speed.

There is not and instant "this is the problem" solution for a not cold enough symptom unless this is a frost free unit... then we need to discuss defrosting problems.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Whirlpool Beverage Center (WBC127BLS) - Won't cool enough

If you're handy with a soldering iron, it's possible to 'trick' the fridge into cooling down a few more degrees.

Long version:
If you open the door to the fridge, on the right wall near the bottom is a small plastic grate. You should be able to pull this straight out from the side wall. There is a temperature sensor attached to the back of the grate. Unplug the sensor. (The fridge will then give you a very annoying error beep and display "EE" on the readout. Pushing the °F-°C button stopped the beeping.) This sensor will change resistance with temperature. (The lower the temperature, the higher the resistance) I was reading a resistance of about 3700 ohms at 43°F and 2460 ohms at 68°F. Throw in a rough assumption that the response is linear and it works out to almost 50ohms/degree. In order to 'trick' the fridge into cooling down more, you need to drop the resistance. I was aiming for about 6 degrees cooler. Assuming the resistance response was linear, 6 degrees cooler would give me about 4000 ohms from the sensor. By jumpering a 50000 ohm resistor (yes, 50K ohm) in parallel with the sensor, I should get about 6 degrees cooler. I did the soldering, plugged the sensor back in, and ended up about 8 degrees cooler. Two days so far, everything appears good and the beer is cold.

Short version:
Put a 50K ohm resistor in parallel with the temperature sensor behind the grate on the inside right hand wall.

The temperature read out will be inaccurate forever after though. But then, I just want cold beer, my wife wants cold water, and the kids want to play with the cool blue light. I don't care what the number on the readout is.

Amana bottom freezer

Hello ghilitho, what you are having is an issue with the defrost cycle. There are 3 parts to this, heater, thermosat, and timer. Sometimes on the newer units the timer is the electronic control. What you are seeing is after you defrost the unit, it works for a time, this is because the evap fan pushes the air thru the unit. With the evap coil froze solid, the cooling drops. You will need a ohm meter to check the heater and thermosat, the heater & thermosat should show to be closed. Also make sure if this unit has a over heat thermosat that it is closed. It may have open up. If all this is good, then the timer is the issue. Hope this helps
